Michael Klim ?
What does he have to offer ?
He is a walking clotheshorse.
A pretty boy.
One of the "in" crowd, or is that "the A" list.
More interested in fashion, grooming and his personal appearance than substance.
More interested in being "seen" and having his ego stroked than doing the hard yards.
During the Comm Games he skipped a compulsory team function so he could party with the glitterati.
Sounds like the 1980's StK disco/party-boy image we have been trying to move away from.
Again, what can he offer the board ?

He's not standing for the board.
He will be a consultant on the football sub-committee, and I imagine he has significant experience with elite training and recovery, as well as injury management.
Further than that, he is a marketable figure who is bound to have a few useful contacts in the sports marketing and administration area, and contacts with several sponsors from his swimming days.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Cluthcing at straws there....Oh When the Saints wrote:He's not standing for the board.

My day job involves extracting sponsorships out of companies amongst other things...
If you are any good you target who should be contacted and offer them benefits to enhance theire business....rather than looking to exploit past associations from deals that you did not even arrange.
Besides he is meant to be on the football committee....not a sponsorship committee.
I think the AIS committee of 4 is a more logical way to go than what Klim will have gained from beinga swimmer...particularly as it is anon contact sport and also does not have the sudden twisting motions that football does.
I think his status is more about marketing the Alternates than in being a genuine appointment.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

Fair enough.
I was clutching at straws ... I've got no idea why he is there and was trying to come up with something.
His position/role doesn't affect my decision though ... he's not part of the alternative board, and as far as I am concerned, is just another member who is supporting the challenge.

Not such a big issue then.
But still cannot see what contribution he can make there.
Just don't want to see us go down the celebrity-cult rather than substance path.

The man is an Olympic Champion and former World Record holder.
Do you not think he may have an idea or two of what it takes to be an elite sportsman?
