You shouldn't have paid your membership!

One of my daughters decided that she would not continue with her membership (even though I pay for it!!). I threatened to disown her, which made her very happy (she's at that age!!). But good news - my other daughter (her twin) is more committed to the Saints than she has ever been.

But back to the point of the post.....

The unbeliever got in the mail yesterday a proper membership card (with name, barcode and all) with a letter inviting her to rejoing by calling up membership services to activate the card. She also got a poster with the letter.

You can imagine that the Saints supporter (who is hanging out for her membership stuff to come) is not at all impressed that her sister (who couldn't give a stuff about footy) has got a membership card (albeit inactive) with her name on it as well as a player poster!

but did it convince her to rejoin?

ask at the club re the poster- I ended up with a spare which I have passed to a semi believer, but the junior I know got one with her please rejoin package in Nov.

Late feb early march I heard for memberships But I am in no doubt they will come :)

We received our membership cards in the mail asking us to join to activate them, but I paid for the memberships in December.
:? :?:

I thought it was strange that the online application form didn't ask for our old member numbers.

I was rung over a week back as the Club was querying one of my daughters birth dates (I had paid pre-Xmas)

I asked then when we would get our memberships tickets...and she said mid-Feb.

My take on the package from this week is that it was aimed at previous members who haven't re-joined.

Two ex members that used to be on my ticket received them, and the card, while it looks impressive, isn't real and is "a sample of what you will receive when you join". The two remaining members have received zip so far.

This weeks packages also came with the Together We March poster.

Marketing to get former members to re-sign.

Hopefully the real thing isn't far away though.

Collingwood

Edit:Just thinking, the reason we got ours so quickly is because 1-I renewed the day after the 08 packages came out and 2-We get a few more thousand members than St Kilda do on average so I guess our membership department have to get them out as soon as they can or in batchs so they dont have 25-26k to do at once!

Iceman I do not know what you were sent...

However one of my daughters was sent a "real' but not activated card as they thought she had not yet renewed.

The paperwork with the card clearly states that all you need to to "activate" it is to confirm in one of six ways...either ring up.....or to fill in the attached form and send it back, website etc etc.... with payment of course....and the card will be "activated".

So it is real card. It looks the same as last years in terms of plastic material, size etc...but with new artwork of course.

The paerworl also then states that they will send out the full members pack once the card is activated.

Mine does have my member number and barcode.

And on the form it reads "Below is your membership card for the 2008 season, activating this card now will save you all the associated dramas of signing up on gameday.."

I have my concession 11 2008 membership ready to be activated with member number, name and barcode. I believe it's the kids in family memberships that .have not recieved the actual cards.

Sounds like two types of packages have been sent out, my official ones may be on the way.

Why do we have to "activate" the membership though, I don't recall having done that in the past?!?

I 'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to have cards that need activating- and in the future you just have the same card and reactivate it each year.

I know this happens with My dispensary card - as a membership.

would save in some respects But some people would no doubt like the new card each year-

Sending a card to members that haven't renewed, saying simply pay $X to have it activated is SMART marketing.

But sending me the generic card with a number to ring to renew when I renewed and paid 9 weeks ago is DUMB marketing.

Don't get me wrong, the membership department are doing a wonderfull job considering the late start to kicking off the membership drive. Love the ideas ie scarf / cap but they needed to be implimented better
After talking to the department today memberships won't be sent until the end of the month thats fine although I'm a bit toey for it with the season about to kick off proper but the DVD higlight package could have been handled better. it is something that would have been great to look at over the summer months I don't have time once the season starts and I'm more interested in the next weeks games and its one of the reasons i signed up early
The second issue is if we joined online before dec 21 we could win a 50" LCD nobody seems to know whats gone on here. the membership office seems to think maybe it will be drawn in June? does anybody know what the deal is here ?
