Do we have a dedicated Kicking Coach??

Post: # 686926Post Royston »

Interested if anyone knows if we have a dedicated kicking coach.
It seems to me that our foot skills as a team are lagging the other top line teams and have done so for a number of years.

As proved in our finals series this year, we were eaten up by skillful and creative kicking by the 2 top teams.

With it being such a crucial discipline Iif we don't have a dedicated coach/teacher it is something that needs addressing.

It is good enough to have a tackling coach ehgaged to improve our tackling skills, why not a kicking coach.....

It is more than just technique in my opinion, also thought process and the type of kick to suit the occassion....depth, height, power.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers

Not sure if we do ... But I think it would be a good idea to employ one. What kind of coaches do you think we could look at?!

We've just appointed this man. The club believes he'll be able to iron out some of Roo's technical faults.

Good shout. A BJ would help anyone improve their kicking.

It is surely an area that we need to improve on, especially the accuracy of a lot of our midfielders....

OK, fair enough...I guess I have high standards in expecting certain players to be more accurate when they have an attempt at goal

We could always use barks4eva

He's given repetative posts a kicking

He's given Grant Thomas a kicking

He's given Archie Fraser a kicking

He's given the current board a kicking

He's given Belvedere Park a kicking

He's given hitouts to advantage a kicking

He's given rixroxrux a kicking

He's given anyone who disagrees with him a kicking

He's done a lot of kicking.................Hold On

he's not very good at kicking
    !!

No improvement in kicj=king skills is apparent without BJ's involvment in my opinion or an injection of breakaway pace by our midfielders to create time and space. Funny we rejected our best opportunity to do that by not recruiting to achieve this!!!???

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Up to what standard?

Even if it was 'up to standard' you can still improve.

Luke Ball & Lenny Hayes, 50% of our A Grade starting mid field are not up to standard.

Also, what about the rest of the ground?

Plugger didn't just kick goals all the time.

He "split the middle" - quite literally. It was amazing how straight his kicking was, freakishly so.
