SAINTS LEGENDS GAME AT MOORABBIN

Post: # 698019Post saintergirl »

Can anyone remember the Legends Game that was held at Moorabbin , close to the time there was the concert organised by members of Weddings, Parties, Anything and other acts at The Palace nightclub in St Kilda?

The Legend Game was organised and run by the Saints At Moorabbin group.

Can you remember how much money was raised from the proceeds of the Legends Game?

Also approximately what date it was held?

I remember it.
Well I don't actually remember the match.
I got roped in to sell hot dogs from a van in the "Huggins pocket" with the Keep the Saints at Moorabbin group.
Was kept very busy.
Saw almost nothing of the game.
But by all reports it was pretty entertaining, as was the commentary.

Must have been about 94?

I remember it. Found $20 on the ground while waiting to buy a hot dog. I thought it was about 1995 though.

I was involved with organising the game but for the life of me I can't remember exactly how much we raised.

I have a feeling it was around $70,000 but I could be wrong.

The next year we smuggled approximately 500 "Night Premiers" T-shirts into Waverly and sold them with all porceeds going to the club. It wasn't part of the SOS in 1995 but was a significant contribution to the club from a bunch of so called divisive drunks.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."
