Kosi is the one I would like to see at CHB. He won the Rising Star award there for a start.

Like we are flushed with quality CHF's.....hardest position on the ground and we have our best player (who is rated in the top 6 in the AFL) dragging us into the finals playing there.......and you want to remove the AA, four time B&F centre half forward who has kicked 340 goals and averages 10 marks a game.....any other club outside of Brisbane would give there left nut to have him at CHF.....

And the obsession of finding a CHB......we have Jason Blake who has been awesome for over a season at CHB.....we have Sam Fisher, an all Australian Key Defender.....we have young Sam Golbert who is dashing and 6'4"....we of course have the returning Goose.....I think we have CHB covered....

It is a lot easier for a CHF to play CHB than visa versa (they are generally better players......the other way does not always work......

Illogical suggestion - moving our two best players who performed out of their skins last season in those positions....

I'm just sitting here having fond memories of that game when Pagan decided for some reason to put Fev down back on G Train!!!

Riewoldt is effective on the wing or in midfield. But playing him as a defender is like using an Aston Martin to tow a dumpster to the tip!

I'm sure that Clarkson has plans to develop Buddy into a CHB!!!

It's a terrible thing what drugs can do to innocent young minds!!

the hardest thing to do in football is kick goals.

historically, it has been very hard for this club which has often relied on a few individuals to kick large numbers of goals throughout the season...
Lockett
Loewe
Heatley
Gehrig
Milne
Riewoldt
are the obvious ones that come to mind

You will also note that the closest we've come to playing in a premiership team is when we've had 1 super player kick close to if not 100 goals
Lockett 92
Heatley and Loewe 97
Gehrig 04 and 05

you can't take ur most potent weapon and take him away from the goals... Roo needs to kick goals, lots of them and he needs the players around him to kick them to

yup put the best CHF in the comp that has consistantly kicked 60+ goals a season for a few years now to CHB because he sometimes gets the yips.

Franklin is a worse kick for goal statistically so move him to FB?

A stupid done to death topic.

imo we are in the process of doing this

I think you all know Roo's game too well when i go to the Footy with mates from other clubs they think he's a gun and complain about their forwards.

Gehrig was a beautiful kick but he still missed. It also depends on where roo kicks from-he gets a case of the stewie loewes 20 meters out directly in front and shanks it but then kicks the captains goals.

Backs take years to develop and dont just come and tear it up, wasting two years of Rooeys career teaching him to be a back seems a waste. I agree Kosis best season was as CHB but again he has been training for forward and ruck for so long we might as well see it through.

It's a confidence issue, as soon as he starts puffing his cheeks I'm convinced that he is not sure of himself.

He greatly improved towards the end of last year, the lack of strapping certainly helps.

Just some stats to compare

Roo
Season Goals, accuracy
2008 65, 62%
2007 42, 62%
2006 60, 63%
2005 33, 47%
2004 67, 67%

ave acuuracy = 60.2%

J Brown
2008 70, 59%
2007 77, 66%
2006 35, 66%
2005 33, 63%
2004 39, 65%

ave acuuracy = 63.8%

Franklin

2008 113, 56%
2007 73, 54%
2006 31, 77%
2005 21, 61%

ave acuuracy = 60%

Fevola (ff not CHF thou)
2008 99, 66%
2007 59, 59%
2006 84, 61%
2005 49, 66%
2004 66, 61%

ave acuuracy = 62.6%

So the way I figure it roo stays at CHF unless the saints somehow manage to get Franklin over then maybe CHB (because his kicking is so much worse than any other major goal kicker in the league) but more likely ff even then or wing.

Either that or a top grade CHF falls from the sky (I'd say there is only 4 top grade CHF in the league in total) then to CHB for Roo

Its his best position.

Ausfatcat, your numbers don't count the number of times he misses the lot with another shank. Having said that, and even though I said earlier it's not the worst idea I've ever heard, I too prefer him at CHF.

I just wish he kicked for goal better. The set shot he missed on Saturday night should have been a soda.

Why is it his best position. He hasnt really played there for at least 5 years and 2 AFL coaches dont think he can play there. He won the rising star 8 years ago. Why do you think he can play there when people in chardge dont?

There are plenty of examples of players were it was realised late in their careers that they would be more effective in other positions, I'm not saying this is the case here....but it does happen.

Well, that's true too I guess. But I watch the Saints live most weeks, and I have a lot of memories of Roo shanking set shots that my Grannie should kick. I don't have that recollection with the others as much (from seeing their games on TV).

Your Grannie must be indispensible at the local lawn bowling club

She never played lawn bowls in her life. What she's doing for recreation now, of course, in that great sports stadium in the sky, is anyone's guess.

What she could do was kick the arse of anyone I know at both Scrabble and Cribbage. She was a gun at those ...

Know one had anything to say about his conversion rate when he kicked 6.1 during our round 17 against the Hawks, our when he kicked 5.0 against the Pies in the semi or 3.0 in ten minutes against the Hawks in the pre-lim.

Too lethal in attack, especially when firing, keep him there.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

Did not even read the thread, simply ridiculous.

a) CHF >>> CHB

b) Riewoldt is easily in the top 5 forwards in the league, probably the top 5 players. If it aint broke don't fix it.

Speaking of Montagna in the ruck,

I was trying to remember who was the small guy Stan Alves famously moved into the ruck out at Waverley ?
