I think it was more a case of Port Adelaide being terrible rather than West Coast being brilliant.

I don't think half the Port players would have even needed a shower after the match TBH.

We should beat them and if we are real contenders we should beat them well.

Yes they have some guns, but so do we. They have a lot more excess baggage on their list then we do.

Dal Santo on Kerr would be an intriguing battle but he must get the tag, he is simply too dangerous.

If we get over 75 tackles again this week we will win and win comfortably.

Block the corridor and stop their run and make sure the ball doesn't get into the hands of the likes of Hurn, Lynch and Kerr.

Priddis can get his 40 touches all he likes, I don't care.

Kosi usually seems to cause WCE a bit of problems so it's great that he's coming into this match with some form under his belt. A fit Roo would be pretty handy too.

We are not going to waste BJ to tag Kerr. For a start I am unsure if he has really ever tagged anyone and secondly why waste him doing that role when we have Baker and Jones. I think Jones will get Kerr. Our biggest problem is going to be their ruckmen. Cox is a star and Lynch is improving every game. We may even have a player run with Cox after he does the ruck work. Someone like Blake if he hasnt got a good matchup could do that role. Le Cras will also offer us problems as he plays similar to Porplezia who played well last week.

We should win but it will not be a walk in the park.

blake could definitely run with cox, he has before. otherwise, how about bj running with cox? bj's been third man up at a lot of ruck contests already this year so he knows what to do when he's around there. could give cox serious problems.

BJ v Cox around the ground would be a ripping matchup... but where would Gardiner/ King go?

Blake is an interesting one, either way i want to see him get tackled 10 times in the first quarter to really take some of the spring out of his step...

BJ would be great match up, then you could have King Gee pushing forwards WC don't have an abundance of great defenders. Gards playing well enough, could become a focal point in this one. Would love to see him tear his old side a new one.

i'm talking about a hard tag. goddard has the engine to run with kerr and it will completely stop any effective ruckwork.
i cant believe anyone would consider him running with cox. there's just no point.
goddard did a job on goodes in round one.
why not do a kirk on mitchell with Bj providing a hard tag on kerr, who is really their only half-decent midfielder.
put the hard tag on him and take him out of the contest completely.
surely we have enough depth with our stronger-bodied midfield and our outside run to destroy them.
put a hard tag on kerr and the game is 95% won.
why match-up when you can completely eliminate.

BJ has never done a hard tag in his life. Why do you think he could even do it. Baker and Jones have and also have a better body shape and pace to go with Kerr. BJ will not tag Kerr.

Exactly Plugger.

their is no way our most offensively minded and damaging midfielder should be used to tag the opposition's best player.

Crazy suggestion.

Kerr should be tagged, but by a tagger. Bakes, and second option CJ

I get a sneaking suspicion that Cox's mobility and tank mght be tested this week

Rucked virtually the whole game last week from all reports....and was seen to be suffering with a knock to the ankle in the last quarter

Add to that a 3hr flight..plus TWO big bodies to ruck against.. and I reckon we might just have got Cox on a good week :-)

Oh..Kerr get the Glove 8-) ...anything else would be folly.

If we want to be top 4, it's games like this we need to win.

I am heartend by the fact that Ross and his assistants flew to WA to watch and analyse the port/eagles game. I am positive...we shall prevail.

BJ on Goodes Round 1...though not a hard tag.

However I think it might be the other J on Kerr. CJ.

I won't be too disappointed if Wirra doesn't play. He has the ability to do some clever things.

West Coast took on a Power side with just one recognised ruckman in response to their opponents being without regular tap specialist Dean Brogan, who was suspended.

But while Dean Cox and part-timer Quentin Lynch were able to control the aerial battle against Power veteran Brendon Lade, St Kilda trio Steven King, Michael Gardiner and the pinch-hitting Justin Koschitzke present a more difficult obstacle.

That opens the door for Cox’s understudy Mark Seaby to earn a reprieve after one week with West Perth, while David Wirrpanda should return if his back-related hamstring problem is put to bed during the week.

Wirrpanda was jogging at pace at training this morning but is yet to resume full-on sprinting after missing round two.

“Only if Wirrapanda comes up, (that) is one change, and we’re still weighing up looking at Mark Seaby’s role this week,â€

the age's preview site seems to have a few mistakes for our game.

Kerr must deserve a tag.

The temptation is to instantly throw Baker at him since he is so good at the job.

I honestly think that if they do go down the tag road, then they should throw CJ at him first. He can do it. This gives us a HEAP more flexibility through the guts and down back with Baker free to go elsewhere.

This is most certainly a winnable game. I would be pissed if we dropped it.

70+ tackles again and WC would be shattered. Could result in a blow out.

If we dont lay on that sort of pressure and allow the WC quality delivery, which they CAN get, their forwards can kick a winning score.

I'm really looking forward to this game actually. I want to see if Dal can keep it up. I want to see King & Gardy perform an effective ruck duo, feeding our mids again. First use is first use. I'm hoping Kos can again create and score.

Roo needs to kick a few this week. Undercover there are no excuses.

Winnable game.
Winnable game.

Yeah , as reported in the Age ,, good pick up.
Round 17, 2008:
St Kilda 2.3 6.5 9.11 15.13 (103)
West Coast Eagles 4.5 6.6 9.9 12.14 (86)

what actually happened ,,,

26/07/2008 Subiaco Oval
West Coast Eagles 15.13(103) - 12.14(86) St Kilda Saints

I was absolutely gutted. But I actually think it turned out a good thing for us moving forward from there.

Someone is really asleep at the wheel over at RealFooty.

Take that photo caption:
Brendon Goddard getting excited during St Kilda's 17-point triumph at Subiaco last season.
I doubt he's celebrating a goal. More likely having a hissy fit as the umpires ping him for hands-in-the-back.

And in other news... Carlton play two games against Essendon this weekend...

Defensively we are flat out the best there is in the competition.

Like most teams, they will struggle to kick 15 goals against us.
