our bottom 4- 6

Post: # 834410Post samoht »

We can be proud of our boys - who would have thought at the start of the year we'd be the best team for all but the last half of the last quarter in the GF.

But at the end of the day what was the reason we lost a game in which we dominated the Forward 50's?

i think it was largely because Geelong had Chapman and Ablett who provided the poise and made the most of their opportunities when it counted and Geelong's bottom 4-6 players were better than our bottom 4-6 players- they made less mistakes.

Milburn, one of their lesser lights for instance, was driving everything coming his way back where it came from with interest... so we basically wasted 25 forward entries that came his way.

Some of our bottom 4-6 players cost us goals (when goals were so hard to come by)... whereas their bottom 4-6/lesser lights stood up.

We may need to improve/replace our bottom 4-6 ?

If we stand still we'll get left behind.

lost for one reason and that was we didn't make the most of our opurtunities when we dominated the second quarter and Schneider and Dempster missed easyish goals in the last quarter.

simple as that

Correct Sam23, we kicked ourselves out of the game, pure and simple.

On a day when weather conditions might have favoured our crumbing forwards, they didn't deliver. They know it and are hurting badly.I really feel for them. It just wasn't their day.. In any other game on any other day at least one of them would fire ...Would Geary have done any better? I dont know.

Better luck and effort next year...It it took us two grand finals to win in 1966, (65, 66) so maybe history will repeat and we will "Win again in two thousand and ten".
