Reckon you guys are right - could be NVM straight back in with Windy

Perhaps Byrnes emergency
It's a concern Bytel isn't bashing the door down.

He's in his 4th year and still hasn't given any significant indication he's capable of making it at AFL level.

Gee he would be a really handy like-for-like inclusion while Steely is out. Let's hope he can crack in for an AFL call up before Steely comes back.

Interrupted run at it. Some players are a slower burn. Still only 22 and has had major back surgery. I won't be worried until this time next year.

On team changes.

Out: Steele, Higgins
In: Byrnes/Owens, Windy sub NWM

Ratten’s comments could be read as suggesting no new faces this week, so the ins would be guys we’ve seen a fair bit of already this season: Windhager, Butler (if fit), NWM or - outside chance - Lienert backfilling Sinclair, who would play as a pure mid.

It was.funny that Ratts didn’t mention Byrnes, who is surely even closer to first team selection than Owen or Bytel.

Far from a crazy choice.

So Windhager misses? Plus is Butler even fit yet?

I’ll be astounded if Windhager misses. But these things happen.

That's his guess, not mine. I would play Windy & give Butler until after the bye to ensure there's no issue with his Achilles.

I know.

To cover Steele, I’d bring Clark in if he’s considered ready and split his time in the middle with Windhager.

And Wanganeen-Milera for Higgins.

That leaves us without a specialist small forward, but maybe we can manufacture one out of Billings, Wanganeen-Milera, Windhager, Clark, Gresham etc

We should be a terrific chance against the Crows with 19 players :-)
(Windhager, NWM and Clark in and only Higgins and Steele out).

Anyway, I thought I read somewhere that Clark wasn’t coming back to AFL this week.

In the Inside Round Video that the club shared yesterday Rats gave Windhager massive praise after the game in front of the whole team.

https://www.saints.com.au/video/1129382 ... d=16648327

So I would be surprised if he was not moved in the 22 for the Crows game.
Rats has also stated that Clark is playing VFL this weekend.

We should rest Butler as we have some very hard games coming up after North , and we want him as a fully fit and fully paced option.

So:

Windhager for Higgins

Bytel for Steele as he is the closest we have to play Steele's role as a genuine big inside mid.

As I recall, the comment about Clark was made before Saturday and the Steele injury. That may have changed things.

Also did I read something along the lines of Bytel needing to work on a few thing?

Thought they might rest Paddywhack this week, then I wondered if the Marshall is still playing injured. right? So I guess they both go? And hang on until the bye? HOw is Gresh's body holding up. Anyone know?

Paddy just had a two weeks rest via the match review Muppet not long ago and Gresh is one of the main reasons we can win Saturday without Steele. If he is fit and on fire, and Ross and Crouch stay in their current form, we will pluck and then tar and feather the crows.

Well according to Paddy post game Marshall is most definitely playing injured. And Paddy said he made a point of thanking Marshall for playing while injured, just moments after the game injured.

Marshall should perhaps be rested so he can get over his niggles. But I would not do it against the Crows, who can be good on their day and moreso on their home track in Adelaide.

So if we are to rest Marshall, it should be against North. With the bye that then gives him a fortnight to get his body right for our harder run home, and starting in Brisbane against the Lions who have many tall players. Yes North have better rucks than the Crows, but the rest of their team is much poorer.

I’d like to see both NVM and Owens in…but also want windy to deservedly hold his spot..

Great problem to have especially when you have players like highmore Byrnes and bytel all pushing for a spot too

Sounds like owens had a cracker in the twos a fortnight ago. Shame about the bye really has that could limit his chances for this week

The club doing quite a bit of build up on NVM so would be really surprised he wasn’t selected

Corkies take ages to disappear. Not unusual for rucks in particular to play with them. He'll be better this week than last, no need for a rest.
