Re: VFn theL Rd 6 Sandringham Vs Box Hill - radio 3wbc
Last minutes of the game the ball gets kicked to White and he puts in a weak effort and the ball gets swept away for a goal scoring opportunity to the Hawks. This is why this boy has not cracked a senior birth this season.
Tommy Lee looks a likely type, has a beautiful kick.
Deserves to get a chance to see if he can stand in defence.
No one looked that impressive to smash the door down for a senior birth to be honest.

Sydney has Tippet and Buddy for a least the next 5 yrs, Hawks have Roughhead and Gunston probably for the same amount of time.CURLY wrote:I don't think Sydney or Hawks have two young key forwards coming through.magnifisaint wrote:That's 4CURLY wrote:GWS and GC.Austinnn wrote:Who are the two clubs who wouldn't be happy?

Remember when everyone had spencer white in their team for round one? What a joke that was.

Look white may come on as he's a key position player and they develop late but right now we expect him to drop marks miss easy goals make bad decisions with ball in hand....how long do they remain on the list before letting them go.
Can't keep everyone on the list for too long hoping they may come good. If we did that we would have no future.

Couldn't agree more Vaz. That effort by White can only be described as absolutely weak. Also agree with your other assessments.Vazelos wrote:Last minutes of the game the ball gets kicked to White and he puts in a weak effort and the ball gets swept away for a goal scoring opportunity to the Hawks. I forgot to mention Seb Ross was excellent today!
Faz was ordinary. Spencer needs to find some ticker. Saad justified his relegation. Hugh will be a gun!
Paddy is getting better week by week. Saunders is frustrated and frustrating.
Saints future looks exciting!

St Kilda midfielder Seb Ross made a successful return from a serious hamstring injury with a 27-disposal game for Sandringham in their 23-point loss to the Box Hill Hawks at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Sunday.
Ross, who hasn't played a match since suffering the injury in the Saints' NAB Challenge win over Essendon in March, was prolific and only bettered by ex-Saint Clint Jones, who racked up 45 disposals in his best display of the season.
The young Saint will be keen to put his name up for senior selection once more after playing 27 AFL matches in his first three seasons.
Josh Saunders (23 disposals) and Paddy McCartin, with three goals, also put their hands up for a senior recall ahead of the Saints' next assignment against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.
Josh Sicily booted five goals for the Hawks in a match-winning display.

I wasn't there last week. Today he was unsighted until the last quarter, when he went for one of his ridiculous strolls toward goal, which he missed. He is a major embarrassment and makes the game look stupid.bergholt wrote:Last week he kicked 4 and was in the best, what was your opinion then?Bernard Shakey wrote:Saad justified his relegation.

St Kilda Development Coach and Sandringham Coach Paul Hudson said although the Hawks outplayed his team, there were a number of positives evident in the 23-point defeat.
"A lot of things didn't go our way today," Hudson told SAINTS.com.au.
"We got plenty of the ball, which was evident in the first quarter, but our ball use and transitional play let us down at times.
"On a positive note, Tom Lee was really solid down back and Paddy McCartin was terrific as our key forward. His work rate was really pleasing along with his three goals.
"Werribee is a big challenge next week and we like to think playing them at home is an advantage for us.
"We'll work hard this week to correct the things we need to with the view to have a win next week."

Cheers Scoop.
What I saw today Mc Cartin looked very good and will be a different physical specimen with another preseason or 2 in him.
I'm not worried about him at all.
Goddard will take time but showed enough as well.
Ross looks AFL level, Minchington has got something but is an outside chance with Lonie & Sinclair coming in now.
Lee needs a chance in the back to see if he can cut it.
The rest on todays viewing are playing at Sandringham for a reason, no one looked likely to take the next step.

White is 20 years of age, 196 cm and 84 kilos.
Riewoldt is 32 years of age, 193 cm and 96 kilos.
196 cm key position players do not grow on trees - so give the kid time and opportunity as he develops into his body.
Currently on our list we have the following with the capability/potential to fill key positions:-
Roo and Fisher then Bruce, Delaney, Mc Cartin, Goddard, White and Lee.
I do not include Gilbert or Roberton who both give value on flanks.
So given the ages of Roo and Fisher and the limitations of Delaney, the importance of Bruce (also in defence I would suggest IF Mc Cartin and White can deliver on potential) is obvious given his development as is the progress of Mc Cartin, Goddard, White and Lee.
Ideally you would have 3 of your defenders with height (noting Gilbert but now 28 and Roberton but not as KPP's) and 3 of your forwards with height (considering Hickey as a ruck man venturing forward to create a mis-match).
We got exposed for height in defence yesterday - and in attack because Membrey lacks the necessary centimetres.
Playing Roo in the mid field and giving opportunity to these youngsters in the key positions is what we shpuld be about at this stage.

Maybe I'm giving Lee a bad wrap because I've only seen him in the seniors but I would rather see what Goddard can do.
To enlighten me, can someone make a player comparison to someone in the AFL for Lee in the backline? I'm trying to picture him down back in my head and just can't come up with anything.

Anyway Lee had bad injuries so dont write him off based on that.

Key defender Tom Lee (17 disposals, 12 marks) stood up again and joined former Saint Clint Jones (45 disposals, 6 tackles) among the best.
Paddy McCartin (14 disposals, 7 marks, 3 goals) also proved his worth, while Nathan Wright took the tagging job on Jed Anderson and ruckman Jason Holmes (10 disposals, 5 tackles) battled manfully against strong opposition.

Against a crap team like Brissie is a good AFL defender assignment for Lee first up.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
