I don't believe that his match fitness is up to AFL level yet, some take longer and it is generally accepted that it takes 3 or 4 preseasons, Armitage if you recall took ages. Jack's been getting by on his skill thus far.

Jack will be a gun midfielder who kicks goals, he is also really good overhead, which we haven't seen much of yet. Don't worry about comparing Jack to others yet. I'm confident you'll all be delightfully surprised.
Sorry but dont agree - Bontempelli is already better than Armitage, Ross and whoever you want to throw in. Resilience is another of Bontempelli strengths, Billings was injury prone before we recruited him and nothing has changed. No matter how you spin Billings will never be on a level status as a player...

Hmmm.

Perhaps you need to change your name to Impatient Bulldog!

By the way, StKilda won last night. Just in case you didn't know!

Ball did exactly as he should of done... stuck his middle finger up at Ross Lyon who's bias against Ball basically cost us a premiership and probably a norm smith.

the 2009 GF has one unexpained phenominon.

How could a person who had nearly the most number of possession/tackles/clearance spend 46% of the time on the ground and only about 5 mins of the last quarter... and the last 15 minutes on the bench watching... whilst the mids were running up and down on the spoty

Not unexplained. He was spent. Ross took the risk of playing an underdone player and it worked in first half, nothing left in tank in second half. Ball's fitness dropped off over course of season as he was too sore in groins after games to train mid-week. That's why he was dropped at one stage when seconds had a bye - to give him a mini 2 week training burst like a pre-season to get fitness up. If it had been dry on GF day he wouldn't have played. But you're right, overall Ross didn't rate him.

No worries, let's just read the Bubble again and see what great geniuses Lyon and Misson were.
Score's on the board for GF choker Lyon.

Agree entirely, bugger this Bontmania, I'm just waiting for the competition to work out some of his obvious and repetitive tricks, then see how he goes. Sure he's big, but he ain't mean & powerful.

If he's already knocking on the door to be their captain, then they're in strife.

Are you really sure you are a StKilda supporter! Disparaging comments like that make me wonder.
How is that disparaging - its reality. Im as passionate supporter as anyone but I am not that short sighted not to see the clubs errors. The head in sand approach has been an issue for the club for years.

Come on Tony. You're better than that. The kid's a star. He's twice the player Stanley is and has only been around a minute.
Saints fans hate it because he was picked after Billings. Will be captain after Murphy. Wish we had him.

Bont was good in the forward line but didn't rate his game further up the ground last night.

He is ahead of billings but he has had more consistency and played a lot more games than Billings. I don't get the obsession of saying who is better now when both will be playing a lot of football over the next decade.

There's a saying that goes: "comparisons are odious". I happen to believe that to be true. Marcus Bontompelli is a fine young player, and he was one of the Doggies best last night. What I am scratching my head about is this comparison between two great young prospects. Jack Billings has no less potential than Marcus Bontempelli to be a gun player. These kids are both PART of their respective TEAMS. I'm sure Dullbogs fans are happy with their No. 4 and I sure as hell am happy with our No. 15!

Impatient Sainter, I couldn't give a continental if Jack Billings never gets to be as big a " star " (???) as Bontempelli. However, I have confidence that young Jack will be very much a PART of a GREAT Saints TEAM in the coming period
