They’ve won 16 on the trot, and you think they win the flag because of a home ground advantage.

They recruited those players for under what other clubs would have paid because of the fact they are professional and always playing finals.

Would Geelong pay (reported) $800k for Hannebery & $900k and a bevy of picks for Hill?

Do you think the lifestyle thing would cut it if they were a average to poorly run club like StKilda?

They pick De Konning at #19 in 2019 who was just about BOG at quarter time. Holmes the same in 2020.

While we are still making excuses for Clark & Coffield. How good would they be by now entering a Geelong environment with senior leaders to show the way.

How many farms are in the Moorabbin area?
How’s the surfing and fishing?

Not sure what Geelong could have done with Clark and his smashed in face or Coffields knee reco.

Pretty sure if we had a choice of Cameron Danger or Hill we wouldn’t have taken Hill. Why would they take Hill when Smith moved there for free to live on the Surfcoast.

Draft success yep Sinclair Wilkie Marshall but hey only Geelong pick well late.

How’s Cooper Stephens going? Pick 16 and he’s no where near it.

Mitch Clark $$$$$$

Reiwoldt, Goddard and Lenny we’re good, but they pale compared to Ablet, Scarlett and Hawkins 🙄

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

Settle.
Cats v. good side. Beat Pies by one kick to make GF. Won lottery snagging that performance from Sydney. Any of the other 16 sides would have made a far better contest, 81 points is flattering and not one bounce or deflection went against them. Selling Kelly inadvertently gave them a big boost - they didn't want to, was forced. Hawkins, Danger, Selwood last hurrah.
They are no Hawthorn dynasty side. We will be coming at them in games away from Kardinia.

G.F.C are a successful organisation. Let’s face it, St Kilda in contrast is Loserville.

Still, their supporters can stick it up their arse.

16 wins in a row, more than half away from Geelong.

No finals at their home ground.

How many priority picks have Geelong had?

We were gifted a star but decided to pick an undersized diabetic forward instead.

I reckon Hill and Hannerbry cost us more than Danger and Cameron cost Geelong.

Not sure we have anyone to blame but ourselves!

11 games at Geelong a season best home ground advantage in the AFL without having to fly interstate 11 times a year.

We weren’t gifted anything we finished dead last.

Lot to be said about moving home and living the lifestyle you want and play football. Danger lives about 100 meters from some of the best surf you’ll find. If he’s playing for less well I’m sure it’s more than compensated.

Cameron and Dangerfield both were n 900k by the way.

We were gifted #2 in 2000 & #5 in the super draft 2001.

We were arguably ahead of Geelong in 2004/5 when it all began coming together for both clubs.

What different paths we have followed since, if only we had the home ground advantage 😳

It starts from the top. It starts with an administration that is competent, and has consultation and is ambitious and is harmonious in it’s pursuit of excellence.
Sorry Scollop, but you couldn’t be further from the facts.

The blueprint for AFL success is clearly to build your infrastructure and team around the words of the Norwood footy coach and the management 101 drivel from an old dry blower on an Internet forum.

That’ll get the job done.

2006 draft they got Hawkins for basically free who was the best rated kid in the draft on top of Selwood.

We also lost X Clark Watts Penny and Maguire to serious injuries and they never returned to there best. Even Kosi and Ball were restricted due to injuries.

Also helps getting 11 stand alone home games a year.

Whining, Crying Losers make excuses and blame everyone/ everything but themselves.

Never explain, never complain.

Every successful Olympic or international elite athlete I have been associated with has endured hardship, injury, loss, challenge and over came it to succeed.

I’ve also watched plenty of more talented not get there because they were weak and blamed others or made excuses.

I can see why your Saintsational nickname is Crying Curly.

12 months ago, and for some distance into the 2022 season, Melbourne were seen as unbeatable off their Premiership

Ditto the Western Bulldogs off their Premiership

And West Coast were a dynasty

So what will be the conversation in 12 months time?

My focus is on St Kilda in 2023 and what St Kilda require to be the subject of conversation at the business end of the 2023 season

You could point to the draw, where in 2022 St Kilda played both Grand Finalists twice, home and away plus played other finalists being Brisbane and Fremantle twice, also home and away

But you have to beat these sides to be in it

So playing these sides twice was an audit on performance

It is noted that Collingwood are talking to the need for a key forward and a key defender - plus some more midfield class

I would put that St Kilda are in exactly the same position

We start 2023 with a negative, losing the class and experience of Ryder and Hannebery

Can Heath progress to assist Marshall and King?

Can Adams progress to support Howard?

Can we recruit to cover these 2022 deficiencies?

Noting the dearth of KPP’s across the competition (hence why Heath and Adams are of importance)

Will the likes of Wanganeen-Milera, Windhager and Owens impact further - and Peris who has genuine pace and skills?

We also need a better rub of the green with injuries - starting with Coffield, Clark and Billings - plus Higgins where concussions saw his form drop

Plus the likes of Howard who is so vital to structure - and Marshall was inconvenienced throughout - then Steele and the impact of injury

Instead we read the garbage we read on here

We got priority picks in 2000-2001 - for being hopeless

We got pick 3 turned into pick 1 (Goddard)

We get the most equalisation money in the AFL

We got Compo for Goddard and Dal Santo (blew that!)

We had every opportunity to draft either Riewoldt or Frawley in 06 - did not due to having an under resourced amateur recruiter
Recruit either we win 09 or 10 or both

Don’t get me started on 2009 draft period or Chris Pelchen
That killed the club for a decade

We have screwed up at nearly every turn

And I would add that we have the Administration and we have the Football Department, the Football Department further enhanced by the return of Hayes

In terms of culture, it is vitally important for players who are irons at the Club be present even if not in official positions but associating with the current players

So Hayes returning is vitally important

Whilst not a premiership player, his attributes and reputation are what they are

Hayes will be held in awe by a young playing group

There is hunger for success at St Kilda, trust me

And, to be quite frank, you would expect nothing less

Every side in the 18 team competition is the same

To suggest otherwise is an abject nonsense

Successful people not only take others with them

They identify the quality to join them in the pursuit of the ultimate success

I would not call Beverage an average recruiter

Yes, there was a focus on the emergence of Hawthorn and their model - also with the top 2 Draft Picks plus other high Draft Picks as the start point - hence certain personnel and the strategy they bought

Where are Hawthorn now?

And in regards last Saturday, sometimes it happens and to Sydney it happened on the biggest stage

Geelong are not that good

And Sydney are not that bad

They were the non finalist side we played twice this year - and beat them twice

I would definitely call Beveridge amateur- or even worse

His decision to take Armo and Howard in 2006 because he watched Qld play an U18 game and went up there was laughable

He wasn’t even a full time employee

FFS - he recruited Justin Sweeney on here say and liked him because of his square shoulders.

Phillip Raymond and Eljay Connors?
I mean seriously
They couldn’t even get a game with Casey seniors
