Moods wrote: Mon 13 May 2024 4:41pm What a bizarre rant. All Tom Morris did was pick up on a tweet from a player’s manager, and that manager was very critical of his players coach. That is extremely relevant on a whole heap of levels and worth discussing. But because it’s St Kilda, we dismiss it because we don’t like it. If that was Scott Pendlebury‘s manager and Pendlebury had been dropped the week before, do you think everyone would dismiss it? Or just see it as a nobody connected to Pendlebury letting off steam?

There is no proof that Phillipou was in anyway involved with that tweet, But a players manager is the voice of the player whether we want to accept that or not. If that tweet was put out without his permission and he needs to sack his manager straight away.
What hasn't been missed is the throwing of other players not under his management under the bus by saying they have gone backwards, Owens and King will find that hard to swallow from another players management.

And then there is Ross being attacked by one of his players managers.

Watch this space as it wont go away.

The fact he DELETED his Twitter account confirms he knew how big he'd stuffed up.

This, from The Rubiyat of Omar Khyam, the brilliant Persian poet from over a thousand years ago. Still relevant today.

"The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it."

I think there's something in that for all of us. Don't you?

Owens far better under Lyon last year than in his first season. So factually incorrect.
Darcy Wilson is going alright too.

What I’m getting at is the only way Phillipou keeps him on is because he’s happy he put it out there. That would tell me all I need to know about the Pou. I’m really hoping he sacks him

I agree
It’s the action that will speak louder than any words
If not, suspect Lyon will know clearly where he stands with Pou

If Pou gets traded by the club after this debacle, this thread will get moved to 'Player Contracts Update' Thread

How many DAYS is it since Phillipou extended his Contract by 2 years?

And, no doubt, both Adelaide Clubs were in contact with his Agent

Or his Agent in contact with the Adelaide Clubs saying he is gettable

These are the facts

The Manager is attempting to get the most favourable terms and conditions for his/her client - exclusively

It is the client who pays them

It isn't actually his Player Manager, it was his Endorsements Manager. He has 2 managers who fulfill different functions. This is not the Manager who negotiated his contract.

When the manager sat down with Pou, I reckon the parents may have been there due to his age.
Regardless...whether Ned C was present or not, Pou would've been asked
How do you like life in Melbourne
How do you think you're going at the moment
Do you see yourself staying for 2-3 yrs

Etc

The relationship with the coaches will come up at some point.
Possibly the coaches+culture at Crows and Power will be discussed (this is why Pou Senior is relevant- being a former player who can offer opinions)

And this is how Ned found out Pou is struggling under Cuddly Ross, and Pou believes Ross is one of his hindrances.

Whether King and Owens share his concerns?
Maybe they don't, but Pou could be quoting their names to bolster his own statement, knowing that neither Owens nor Mr Grumpy will be asked the question by anyone

It would be naive to think that Pou didn’t have something to say about him be dropped.

He’s young, immature and last week was the first time in his careers he’s had to play in the seconds.

He’s a prospect, but yet to prove he’ll be a star. I think he’s been he’s been very lucky to play as many games as he has done in the AFL, especially considering his age and output. A lot of more promising draftees would have played a lot more VFL football by this point of their career.

It would only be expected if he was a bit taken aback at finally being dropped

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

But he put in a good effort on Sunday IMO. Looking to get involved at all times and he did some good things. He's got a lot of courage, which I like. I reckon he will be a star and I would like to see him back in the AFL sooner rather than later.

Likely it was a drunken, spur of the moment, ill-considered rant by a knob jockey who stepped out of line ..... hence the deletion of his whole X account ..... reckon he would have got a fairly hefty smackdown by his partners

Also learnt his lesson that their are parasite journos that will jump on any remote speculative opinion in order to inflame and provoke for clicks

The pou deserved to be dropped if he disagrees he has over inflated his skills..he is miles away and should relish the opportunity to tear the vfl apart.

Read the Coach opinions on his game for Sandringham?

The season before last Phillipou was playing Under 18’s for Woodville West Torrens in the SANFL

He did not represent WWT at League level nor Seconds level - so never against players over 18 years of age

Then straight into the AFL

So there you go

And just to add, I would not expect any comment from the Club or any employee of the Club (which includes Phillipou)

In fact, if I was in a responsible position at the Club, that would be my ultimatum

That is knowledge that was known from the moment we called out his name at Number 10 pick in the draft…and yet…

Taking into account his form, conditioning, workload, general mood, scheduled managed rest weeks (which were non-existent), we took until Round 9 in his second year before we twigged onto the fact that he needed to play at least some games at lower levels.
