Wait till round 16 when the young bodies are bruised and the speed decreases, then we can see how harvs goes.
Exactly!

We saw this sort of game from Harvs early last year. IF they rest him like they did last week and give him these little stints on the field he seems to take some time to adjust and get on song. When he does get on song he's like a bloody machine! Harvey is brilliant, plain and simple! He wasn't the only one who made and error or two - believe it or not Harvs is only human   Dermott & Thommo need to get a clue!

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

How many time have we all seen Harvey head down , hands on knees looking stuffed .........Commentators declaring hes gone , should be off the ground etc

Only to see him absolutely star in the rest of the game and playing his majic game right to the final siren.

On the other hand Dermie is paid to make contoversial comments ..
Now he IS a Has BEEN .

I am sure Harves would laugh this off , he knows the season hasnt started and he will be there in September .

Anyone who makes any form of 'big statement' based on a practise match is an idiot.

Harvey literally goes through the motions in the pre-season. Last year he would run up and down the ground, and barely even try to actually get the footy. He treats these games exactly as they should be treated. For practise and match fitness.

Although I haven't heard the comments myself, Thomas should know better. He treated pre-season games with contempt, so he shouldn't be making any judgements based on them.

Harves is over the hill and a mere shadow of what he was. Now he is a contributor. A very good one, but not a skerrick of what he was.

For those who doubt this, do yourself a favour and get a replay of a game in 96, 97 or 98 for proof. He was simply unbelievable. A freak.

He was super fast, incredibly quick and powerful off the mark, his kicking was long, and he turned games on their ear within minutes.

Now he is a link man. A good one for sure, but clearly 'past it' if we're comparing him to what he was. But to be fair, who the hell at 34 years of age could be as good as Harvey was when he was 25??

How far down the rabbit hole do you really want to go?

there is only one problem ive been finding with harvey going on each year it seems now days most people (besides the saints faithful) will talk about harves longgevity in the game over the brilliance he had in the early- mid 90's

harvey's form in 07 was better than acceptable, bordering elite. before his injury he was an ouside chance for a brownlow, and probably 3rd behind bartel and jnr, after kerr and cousins were rubbed out midway through the season.

IMO if harveys form in 08 = 07 form (which isnt too much to be expected) minus the injuries, i think people will reassess their opinion.

just quietly averaged 20 effective possessions 5 marks, and 2 tackles per game (given he missed 3 1/2 games through injuries so effectively played 17 or 18 games, also given he was on the field on average 60% of the time.

twice in the season he got 30 or more possessions and twice I think he took 10 marks or more.

also unlike other players with the 07 game plan, can't remember banger kicking backwards much or chasing soft touches.

If your nick stevens or adam cooney's returned 20 effective possessions and 5 marks and 2 tackles per game, people would be soiling themselves about good form ><
