Nathan Brown to sign on for 2020

Post: # 1831479Post WellardSaint »

Social media says NJB ready to sign on for a year.

Great news.

Very pleased about that. I think that he still has a lot to offer. Maybe even more off-field than on-field.

Out best defender last year. Not Saying he was a star but very reliable, and never stopped giving. Another year is fair and makes it almost certain that battle moves forward. Bring on 2020

Very good decision. Even if he plays mostly for magoos he is still an on field coach. Would be happy to see him backline coach one day.

“Social Media” said Chris Masten was signing for the Saints.

But this one is actually true.

I'm really happy about this. He worked his arse off last yet to get leaner and fitter. Will be a fantastic asset in "growing up" the baby backmen.

Good back up if either Carslile, Howard or Battle get injured.

I’m happy with this because Newnes has left.

Brown is a bit iffy due to his lack of pace but is solid and may be a back up if Snakey Jake, Jimmy & Robbo are fit and firing

I will never understand the Saints List Management team. Why keep a 30 year old when you could either take up punt on someone in the draft or sign up one of the Delisted Free Agents that are 25 yo?

this is good news

will add to the depth for a good long awaited season..the knockers will come on here later next year and join in on the back slapping I'm sure when Brown proves his worth.

Happy...I'm sorry to be a skeptic, but I'd be mildy and pleasantly surprised if Carlisle made it through the entire season injury and suspension free.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Great. Underrated player. Always feel a bit calmer when he's in our back line.

Good luck to the bloke.

Thought he was gone once Howard was signed.

Make him captain at Sandy and back up if a KPD goes down.

Might be our new CHF 😉

Once upon a time I may have agreed but of the departure of Goddard and Dal taught us anything, you need leaders to influence the next gen

Brown should hopefully play mostly at Sandy with Dougal, Austin, Clav and maybe Battle the beneficiaries of his experience

So

Key Defenders (7)
Howard, Carlisle, Battle*, Brown, Joyce, Marsh, Clavarino
Third tall Defenders
Wilkie, Roberton (2)

Key Forwards (3)
King, Battle*, Ryder/Marshall**
Third tall forward (2)
Membrey, Mayo

Didn’t count McCartin.

To me that’s an unbalanced

Don’t count Marsh - he’s a Sandy player as injury backup.

Carlisle May have to swing forward a bit but with the outside run of Hill perhaps we can get some goals from the midfield to help rebalance it

Agree but Battle, Howard, Carlisle will play Forward at various times and Joyce will play Forward at Sandy.

Brown will be used against Geelong beasts and as back up.

Battle, Howard and Carlisle are better defenders than forwards. As is Darragh Joyce, who was only trialled there late 2019 due to having surplus defenders and NO key forwards. He was average.

Ryder and Marshall clearly better ruckmen than forwards.
