Great memories of Joffa along with good mate Greg Burns.
The two of them took no prisoners during the tough 80’s, and they gave the impression they would run through brick walls for the team.

My memories of him are a gutsy, take no prisoners player. Multiple selections for the Big V and an incident where his face was horribly rearranged and he just wanted to go back on !
Was proud to be a sainter watching Joffa play

He was my favourite player.

Old fashion wingman.

Great duels with Doug Hawkins and Mick Turner.

The program is a great watch.

Incredibly loyal. Unbelievably loyal.

A true hero of those very tough Moorabbin days.

Yep. And my God - didn’t our club treat its players like absolute sh!t at times. FFS - we were a shambles. Didn’t reflect all that well on Stuart Trott either

Loved watching that ep tonight. Still looks fit as a fiddle.

Can't believe the Stuart Trott dropped him to preserve his 100 in a row record.

Typical of self defeating Saints culture in many ways

When Joffa was playing the opposition was less likely to target a Saint knowing retribution was inevitable.

Thank God it only lasted for 30 min. What a rabble.

I really felt for Joffa. The club treated him like garbage.

The circumstances behind his brother leaving were also not great and doesn't paint a club legend in a great light.

Well I find it all very interesting - it was no secret that the club was a rabble throughout the 80s however the love & loyalty that our ex-players show the club is immense

Yes and I remember the story about Fader - whether it had any bearing on him leaving I don't know

Don't say rabble.
That is Elliot speak.

We were a 'disco'.

Come on Saints. Elliot and his Carlton mates were obviously in envy of our Olympic-like standards in the early to mid 80s.

Unconscionable behaviour if true. I have no doubt that it is.

Two of my favorite all time saints players as well

It's very much true. That story has been going around for years. When it was first told to me it was in the context of "and that's why the club hasn't won anything much because it was rarely club-first; more people in charge protecting their own personal legacies".

And to think that Jack Newnes gazumped them all with his consecutive games streak! Geez- I'd much rather look in the history books and see Joffa holding that record than than the former No. 16 potato

In what capacity was Trott at the club after 1977?

Fantastic. I think Ill have to work on some compassion for Mr. Trott however. Joffa was such a legend. Stuff teams are made of.

Trott is an arsehole afac. The hawks belted him from pillar to post in the 1971 grandfinal, then the prick went and played for them in 1975 after captaining the club.

Joffa's revelations just confirmed my long held beliefs.
