Pendlebury ???
Should we offer Pendlebury a 1 year deal with a trigger for a 2nd. With an additional 2 extra years included as an assistant coach.
Now this might seem initialy like a crazy idea. But if you think about it he is durable (played 18 games this year), could play HF role with some stints on ball, would bring leader qualities, and although not at the top of his game is still a quality player.
It would also mean you could delist players like Kent, Lonie and Geary and know you'll have a player that will play his roll week in week out. And he wouldnt cost any picks or too much cash.
What do you think?

Re: Pendlebury ???
I think he said today he wants to be a 1 club player, he wants to stay at the Pies.
When his playing career is done he then wants a coaching gig away from Collingwood.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Pendlebury ???
We should offer him a 3 year deal.
Second two really as a playing assistant coach.
Blokes a jet and walks into our side.
Imagine Clark learning from him too.....

Sure, let's talk Shaun Burgoyne out of retirnement while we're at it because why the hell not?
It's St Kilda and that's how we roll.

I dont understand why people on this forum think it is rare or unusual to recruit from other clubs.Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Wed 25 Aug 2021 2:33am Sure, let's talk Shaun Burgoyne out of retirnement while we're at it because why the hell not?

Yes that often means one or multiple of
Paying more
Them coming with some sort of baggage (injury, behaviour or otherwise)
Them being older
Here are some examples for you using this year's finalists
Ben Brown (multiple here didn't want him)
Chad Wingard
Isaac Smith
Shaun Higgins
Mitch Robinson
Josh Bruce
Lance Franklin
Shane Mumford
Jake Stringer
All pretty unique pick ups at various stages of the clubs builds towards success.
The alternative is to be passive, take your four draft picks a year and assume you have the best recruiters and development system in the AFL. Even then you need to be super patient as reforming your list will take 10 years.
It isnt just a good idea to trade and look for value opportunities such as this one (or Ryder if you want another old over the hill example) it's crucial.

However - must give props to the more recent crops - but we have had some stinkers

A big no from me.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Pendlebury is a no. Parker maybe it depends on how much we have to pay.
