It should help to give a bit of context to Port’s performance last week.

The Eagles’ problems seem to begin in the coaches box. Their set up looks all wrong. They’re trying to roll out a zone defence, but the players don’t seem to be in the right spots. And sometimes they don’t even seem to be going for the ball. It’s dreadful.

Yep I know mate. I moved there from Melb in 88 and was there when it was a one team town and they won two flags. Parochial on steroids to the power of ten. Just awful. Arrogant, ultra one eyed, ignorant about footy outside Perth. That’s why I detest them so much,

St Kilda defeated Fremantle.
St Kilda can win if they come to play for 4 quarters.

It puts Port's big win in perspective. Apart from one very good game with WAFL top up players playing their grand final for the year against Collingwood, the Eagles are uncompetitive, they even lost to North!
And their second half against Carlton the week before has been devalued by Carlton's poor showing against Dockers and Suns, pointing to the Blues inability to run out games.
Port are playing Gray who has a knee injury too, if he plays.

We need to bring the heat for four quarters tonight, and try to get a bit of percentage. This is one of those games we have to win.

From my experiences of being stuck in crowds of Eagles supporters at the footy when in WA, is a great many of them don't seem to know much about football and appear to be just parochial Western Australians barracking against the wretched Eastern states. Last night has removed their recent excuses so you can bet many will really go to ground when they realize that Adam Simpson doesn't have a magic wand and they will freeze up completely if they are game enough to have a glance at the ladder, as apparently it's the first time they have ever had the experience of being on the bottom.

I have always felt better after a Saints loss when Eagles get beaten as well, but I expect a double bonus this week.

Big mistake letting Tom H go to Sydney and other premiership ruck to Port.
Kelly proving costly.
Hearn, Kennedy, Darling one season too many.
Miss Oscar Allen.
WA will suddenly realise Simpson is not from WA and coach needs to be also noting Sam Mitchell was probably a genius.
Recruiters to be slightly more vilified than Clive P.
And I hate myself for it but love seeing Cripps humiliated.

I would be more than happy for the AFL to revert to the 12 VFL teams. Money from TV rights has really f***ed what was an exceptional competition.

I reckon due to injuries and H&S protocols keeping players out, plus Darling being a precious sook about vaccines etc caused WCE to start the season on the wrong foot. They have probably written the season off already and are probably looking to next year. I believe the morale is pretty low.

WCE are one of two horribly uncompetitive teams this season.
Any games dropped to North or West Coast are games dropped to the field.

Any wins against them are expected.
They'll pull out competitive performances from time to time (e.g. Nth v Swans) but they are the exception.

The media have gone OTT about Port's win last week. The Eagles performances this season have been reflective of where the side is due to injuries and H/S protocols.
They look like a team that is out of condition.
