Our spot in the 8 is ours to lose

Post: # 1971873Post Jacks Back »

We win the last 3 games and other results won't matter as we'll be in the 8 and playing finals.

Of course all 3 games are going to be as hard as buggery (and probably impossible) to win. They are all going to be mini finals for us.

I can't see us getting there (probably won't win another game), but I hope we do.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

True.

Possible scenario last round is that we need to win and the Swans don’t have much to play for as they have already secured top 3, assuming they don’t need to win to secure third spot.

I don’t really like our chances after today.

Dogs and Tigers have easier runs home, both will probably win all three so unless we can do the same we will finish 10th or possibly even 11th as Gold Coast have two winnable games and I doubt we can win any in our current form

May the Force be with us.

Easy it's not but cattle we have.

Luck be a lady.

Howard the intercept, handball to Paton on the burst to Membrey offload to Wood; Sharman marks in the square. Saints are home. What an effort!

No chance
Not playing anywhere near it and frankly Dogs will do more damage
We have a dysfunctional forward line and putrid transition and still play forward of the ball off manic pressure to sneak out back to kick goals
Works well this manic pressure game plan against poor sides who turn it back over and don’t punish us but allow us to sneak out the back……
Not so well against top sides who can handle our pressure, slice through our zone and score easily ….
We are poorly coached

Well clearly we've got 3 elimination finals to play before we get to the elimination final.
Would love us to win the first game , the cats have gotta be due for loss down KP

I think we’ll miss, but have ourselves to blame for a few substandard mid-season matches.

The Cats might be premiers this year and I cant remember the last time we won at Kardinia Park. In fact I can’t remember us winning there ever. Maybe once.

But the season has been far from a write-off. We’ve taken a few scalps and our best is pretty good.

We’ve also uncovered a few possible future stars like Windy, NWM and Owens.

Carlton could easily lose all three.
Bulldogs play Freo
Tigers play Port away.

Win 3 we’re in
Win 2 probably in
Win 1 probably out
Win 0 we’re out.

You are wrong about the senior coach.

The side is what it is.

Pointing out we don't have the best list is stating the obvious. But it's not the worst either.
Oh yes, the Dogs are so good, hard to explain why we are above them.

1988 before that.

We are also the last team to beat Geelong.

Great that we have such a easy fixture and play Geelong at Geelong.

The perks of finishing top four last season.

Dare to dream but on paper no chance. Cats will towel us up big time. Not only do they have a better team they have a much better coach. Watch ratten get out classed after half time when Scott makes a few tweaks to his game plan and we don’t adjust well to it

If we win 2, it’s still only a possible and not a probable. My ladder predictor had us missing when I set it to win 2 further games.

Since 2000 Geelong have lost just twice playing at home, both in 2021.

Sportsbet has St Kilda $5.50 Geelong $1.15: huge odds, records are there to be broken and you never know, if the Saints bring out their A game for a change the impossible could happen, there have been a few this year.

It's not.

Geelong have lost 32 times at Kardinia Park since 2000, including earlier this year.

However, since 2000, no team has a worse record at Kardinia Park than St Kilda.

0-10

Last time we won there i think Hocking ran through Banger just before half time.
He came out in the second half and took it up to them and past them. One of the few good wins in the Watson era

Yep, that's my scenario as well.

Win 1, we'll be eliminated; 2 we are worthy finalists; 3 - we dare to dream. But we would be dreaming.
