West Indies in Australia.. Train wreck?

Post: # 1989141Post shanegrambeau »

So before anybody says, ‘who cares?’ That is my point..or part of it.

This could be a fatal watershed in the history of test cricket

Or maybe not!?

As of today it looks like people could care less. They don’t even like the Aussies and Cummins and Warner and co..

And they don’t know the Windies.

They last won here when Stan Alves was coach.

They have no spinner.

It could be empty stadiums - dust bowl shield crowds.

Or it could be an intriguing little series.

I am now curious.

Get it back on Channel 9. Get rid of the morons they have commentating. Get it on free to air.

It is on free to air.
It is also on PayTV with better commentators.

Can't wait for Fox to have their own AFL commentators on all games so I don't have to listen to the awful ones at seven.

One Dayers weren't and either is the state one day comp.

The commentators are terrible at the moment.

I can't stand that pommie woman who supports anyone as long as it's not the Aussies. If she commentates this series, I will throw up.

You would expect that Australia will prevail relatively easily

But the Windies have some fire power - plus Roach who is class

They have Braithwaite plus Chanderpaul will be of interest

They beat the Poms in the West Indies in the last Test Series they played - so they have something

With the First Test in Perth there is not much publicity - noting the publicity machine which is the AFL continues uninterrupted

Then South Africa with a pretty useful pace attack - but vulnerable batting wise

So our ageing openers will be tested out - at least

And once again we witness Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins - with Green

That is something to look forward to

There is an over-saturation of cricket now, mostly the fault of domestic T20 leagues, that's why no one cares too much about some series (like the 3 ODI's against England)

Test series against lesser teams like the Windies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh will never draw well. You need England or India for that.

South Africa will be a good series, will be interested what kind of crowd that draws.

When was the last time that the state one dayers were on FTA? Hard to justify showing a game on FTA when fewer than 1000 people go to watch it live.
The one day series against England should have been on FTA. Everytime the national team plays in this country, it should be broadcast for all.

It's an eon ago now since the West Indies were one of the best cricket teams in world cricket, nowadays it seems the majority of their sporting youth aren't into cricket like they were in the 70's and 80's.

Are you talking about Ian Smith, former Black Caps wicket keeper, or Ian Smith the former Prime Minister of Rhodesia? Sheepshaggers and Seth Effricans sound the same? Get a grip mate. Go to Tullamarine and spend a day hanging out at the Air New Zealand check-in and arrivals. If you can't note a difference by the end of the day you deserve to be banished to the veldt. :)

So where is the mercy rule discussion at.
Or
Compulsory declarations unless scoring @ 10 + an over after a day and a half.
