Daicos and De Koning

Post: # 1997136Post MC Gusto »

Obviously both are pipe dreams but I’m pleased we’re putting it out there! SOS and gubby can go hard for mine!

Have lunch with Daicos / identify players like De Koning, have some presence and show all clubs and players we mean business

We are not a destination club yet...Hardly Gubby's fault.

That's his job though isn't it....

Who has he got us?

Will never get either Daicos to leave Collingwood. Can't hurt to be looking though.

Correct, the easiest recruiting job in the AFL world is convincing a player to go to Geelong, Collingwood or Richmond.

Look, we have to concentrate on the draft and our current <50 games guys on the list.

Even if it means we just drive up the price and force them into a salary cap squeeze, making other players available.

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

Seriously, the club needs to hire the two Bobs to ask the likes of Gubby what he actually does.

I think the De Koning play might be a BS story.

Why announce it to the world? It all sounds a bit staged.

If true, someone might have a score to settle with their old club which is still pretty amateurish.

I hope it is - I dont rate him (TDK) and would prefer we target others much more suited to our list needs. The one thing it does do, is get us in conversations and perhaps puts some pressure on Carltons bulging cap if they want to retain him. The media reported that Sydney were considering offerring him an 8 year deal which hopefully they do as it may shake a few players out like McLean and Amartey. Both are more the key forward / 2nd ruck type players we need more than an over rated TDK.

A Carlton mate of mine is convinced he's off to Sydney.

What about Dekoning's cousin that just scored 5 for Man City. He looks handy.

DeKonning will be getting #1 ruck money - 800k-1M

We have a #1 ruckman - we don’t need another

We need a #2 ruck/forward on about 500-600k

You don’t put your cash into role player positions

Big money earners
Key Forwards
Mids
Ruckmen
Key defenders

ok money
Wing
Running back
Small forward
3rd forwards
Intercept defenders
Back up Mids

Average money
3rd defenders
Small defenders
Defensive forwards
Back up forwards
Back up defenders

That’s how I’d pay a list

Big money earners in key positions

Maybe, but Gallagher and the club didn't present it that way.

Yeah, bit of a mystery then, seeing Gallagher and Ratts weren't on speaking terms.

Lethlean should have gone with him instead of being promoted.

Hannebery and Hill debacles will haunt us for years to come!
