Probably, that’s now four St Kilda coaches Hinkley has gotten the better of.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

Forget the coaching.

Boak, Butters, Rozee and Horne-Francis make up a seriously dangerous midfield. And, like most of his relatives (except, it would seem, Ben Long), Junior Rioli is an absolute gun.

We weren't able to stop them sufficiently to win the game. And we missed a couple of significant chances at the death: particularly the terrible shot from Higgins.

But we stayed in it until the death. We're a good team. Perhaps they're slightly better than us at this stage. But, if we'd had King playing, we'd have probably won.

Hardly
We only lost by 7 points.
Turnovers in the last quarter were telling, and still missing critical shots doesn't help
I think were there abouts, alot of mediocre efforts by some tonight

The bomb it long mentally to no tall players is what got us in the end. How many marks did they take in their back 50 - particularly the last qtr? f****** joke Saints. Back to the same old system.

Yes I noticed our crack midfielders Petracca and Bontempelli failed to show up yet again.

The biggest challenges tonight were lack of a tall forward to compete in the air, which saw us bomb the ball forward AR style…
And the lack of a bull midfielder that gets heaps of the ball and directs play even against the run. Crouch has been doing a decent job but has been down the last few weeks.

The other thing that’s going on is what happens to teams when things frequently work out for them… a degree of complacency creeps in.
Pou has been down for a few weeks after a promising start and pbly needs a spell… and Cordy, well let’s just say that the rationalisation of his performance week in and out is becoming disturbing. These aren’t the reasons we lost.. but they’re challenges we’re not addressing

We really needed that centre clearance to go our way after we hit the front. That particular play was typical of the entire night.

Q2 there was an air of arrogance. It did not look good and was the start of the rot.

Just a hunch, I know, but I did think about the merit of picking Pou again, not just because the five day break, but because of the all the hyperbole in the media and the noise and frenzy around St Kilda at the moment.

When I saw their big Aliir Aliir standing alone in F50 for an easy receive mid second quarter, I thought...uh.oh..

So I thought maybe the selection was a bit off...

Windy had not had many match minutes of late, and I thought he would have been a good fit

It did look like Port found the key, and unlicked our system
We then reverted to an earlier model -- we fought hard, fumbled, and bombed it to King.

I'm keen to hear what Ross has to say -- I don't understand how these things really work.

Beaten by the better team on the night - a team that seriously has the wood on us. And perhaps the five-day turnaround was also a factor.

I think the addition of King and Caminiti over the next month is going to be a big help.

For one very important thing, it should allow Owens to play predominately as a midfielder, where we can definitely use him.

For another, opponents will think twice about triple-teaming King with another genuine key-position sized forward to guard.

I’m disappointed of course, but anyone who thinks we are the finished article already is sadly deluding themselves. We have work to do and are in it for the long haul. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Outcoached? Don’t think so.
We lost on effort, legs and skills.
Although skills mainly because we looked slow and tired. Resorted to bombing into the forward line, which I put down to not being fresh after a five day break.

You could argue some selections in hindsight might’ve been different…I think this is the type of game a tough, in and under Bytel could excel in …
You could also argue our coaching and game structure kept us close enough to win it …
There is definitely execution errors and in his presser Lyon noted 2 things:
1. 4 goal turnovers in our backline
2. Inefficiency into forward 50

His point wasn’t to blame he just said….if you’re inefficient going into 50…..you can’t afford 4 goal turnovers in the backing
He’s right.
I’d much rather listen to that than….
“Gday Saibts fans….gee whizz….another tough night at the office …but we’ll just try harder next week…”

With a team bolstered by youngsters attempting to play key roles it feels odd but true to say that Caminiti was a big out tonight.

Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

Yep
Forward line missed his attack on the ball and speed on the ground
Membrey was running in quick sand ….just demanding the ball be kicked on his head only to be shunted out of the way easily
Dumb
Ross noted in the presser …he’ll get better Tim… he better all right ..

Worried about next week.
Ross n co getting us 5 wins due to great coaching/system?
Clarkson may beat us with smart coaching+system too.
He'll follow Port's template

He can try but he doesn't have the players. Think about that one.

Taking off Cordy and to then have the players bombing it in high seemed to lose us the match.
We needed Windhager for his fresh legs, but taking off Cordy was a poor coaching decision.

Steele, Wood and possibly Membrey were all playing injured or sore and injuries to Hill and NWM during the game didn't help.
