Is it time to play Row as a Key forward

Post: # 2006175Post Saints58 »

After Last week game were we were constantly out marked in the forward line why not play Row as a key forward, he came to us as a KPF and drop Cordy play Campbell as the ruck and give him 60% of ruck work Row 40% we could try it for the next week game.

It would allow our mid size players Owens, Mateus, Membery to be a lot more free to Row the forward line knowing there is a big there taking most of the heat.
But the most compelling reason is that when Ross was asked in the pressure about Row he said he has been ok for us but didn't deliver the ball to our mids and that's where we were smashed this is not the first time Ross has said this so maybe we move Row.

When King gets back we would be a really dangerous team with both there and camaniti running around at CHF with his mobility.

Owens would then be free to play midfield and would be very dangerous and a real presence that we haven't had in and around there with his build and aggression.

I've been saying for a few weeks I wouldn't mind seeing Campbell in for Cordy, doing 70%-80% of the ruckwork, with Marshall spending that same time up forward then relieving in the ruck when needed.

I can't see how Campbell would provide less than Cordy, every time I've seen him in the seniors he's done a fine job.

Hasn't been able to get a game while deep in an injury crisis so it's hard to see him being played before his contract ends.

Isn't Sharman currently learning to play wing as a backup in case Wood, Hill and DMac aren't available. 8-)

No, the time was round 1.

If it hasn't happened by now, it won't happen.

I was/am half expecting Marshall,to be rested/managed somewhere into the season,as we rely on him so much.If he doesnt play cant see us beating top sides so this week maybe Campbell in Marshall forward, but imo not a long term solution.I was hoping Hayes would have done the Cordy roll

Rowan as a key forward is wasting his talent as he is only average at the position.
Rowan is almost your quintessential follower, it is his ability around the ground that hurts sides not necessarily his tap work.
Campbell is a good tap ruck but his influence outside of the ruck contest is minimal.
I am not sold on Cordy as a forward but I don't think moving Rowan up there will give us the lift we need particularly considering we will be hindering the midfield by doing so.

Need two Rowans.

The coaches obviously consider Zaine, on balance, adds more than Mr Campbell.

Once Hammer replaces Membrey we will look dangerous again.

Marshall needs some unpredictablity to his ruckwork. the majority of his taps are to his left ankle.

Rosanna Marshall lacks forward craft..he’s a follower more than a pure ruckman, hence our interest in De Koning.

Marshall does lack a bit of forward craft but so does cordy and Iam sure the can learn how to play forward, he would be a lot better then Cordy, and can mark so is a target not just our smalls and mid size forwards.
Campbell is all we have in the ruck department and he is a good tape ruck maybe not so good around the ground but if our mids get first use of the ball we would be able to score more effectively.
I think we are not to efficient when going forward this has to change and now if the mids get the ball delivered to them more efficiently we have more time for forward entries.

I think the hierarchy or rucks is established

Marshall primary relying on his round the ground work

Owens just to relief and exploit his round the ground work

Cordy when the coaches want a bit of a giggle before he’s subbed off in the third

Campbell

The rest

I did suggest on another topic that I would rest Marshall at FF ind replace Cordy with Campbell for this week only. I think Marshall may need a break before the bye so this would be a compromise

Marshall is having his best year so far as primary ruckman, why would we change it?
in a month when King is back key forward posts filled .
No thanks

Is this a typo or a poor attempt at questioning the masculinity of one of our players?

I’m going to go with typo as predictive text does pretty stance things.
If it was meant to be a dig… I’d have gone with Rowena

I couldn't agree more. I think Campbell is at least as good as Marshall as a tap ruckman and Marshall is heaps better than Cordy as a forward. We would lose some of Marshall's strength around the ground though.

Is it Rowan’s best season

2019 he dominated

2020-2022 he was stifled by having to play 60% forward - which he’s very ordinary at.

Speaking of making a stance. I choose to be called Shelly from now on so can you all please refrain from calling me Scollop or Scolly
