James Van Es

Does anyone have information on where James is at.

Recovering from injury earlier in year
Has been "TBC" on the injury list the last few weeks
However has not played at Sandringham
Highly rated from the 2022 draft as a key & intercept defender.

Not looking great for James

Probable delisting at the end of the season

I have don't know what TBC stands for but I assume it means the extent of the injury and recovery time are yet to be assessed / confirmed.
When it takes this long it probably means season over.
If so they may use his place to create a mid season rookie draft position.
A chance to get someone given the low ladder position.

When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

In my head "TBC" stands for "to be considered"
He was 1-2 weeks early in the year while recovering from an injury.
So there is something else going on
Hope all is OK and he can return to Sandy in the short term

TBC is To Be Confirmed.

he has had to have another operation on his ankle, may be gone for the year, may be gone, that depends on how he recovers, on how
he is rated by the clubs footy dept.

Is he any better than Adams was, who knows, he's now always injured.

Finding AFL standard talls is a raffle.

What about Hawthorn's new tall, Calsher Dear, he looks quite capable. Another Father/Son pick up.

Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.

I don't know the kid but if he is a determined young man and he is willing to put in the hard yards, we need to support him and extend his contract.

We know why we recruited James. I like what he has to offer. We know he has the potential to be a 10 year player. Nothing has changed.

If we were happy to extend Hayes (the moment he initially did his ACL) then I don't see why we wouldn't extend Van Es

We made a commitment to Hayes based on our belief that he would recover.

It was a gamble because he's not a young pup. The one advantage that he had over James was that he had already performed on the big stage, and we knew he could do it again.

Van Es was recruited in the National Draft as an 18 year old. He is a pup. We know that young KP talls take 3-4 years to grow into their bodies and put in the size required to take on AFL quality KP Forwards.

I think if we invest in Van Es for the long term he will reward the club with big dividends

Was showing enough to warrant an extension. Has the speed, height, and leap to succeed.

We have enough to delist ahead of him to take 4 or 5 draftees this year.

Delist and redraft onto the rookie list. Gives him another 12 months.
I don’t think he showed enough to retain his spot on the main list. Free up that spot on the main list.
No other club will pick him up given his injury history.
Should be an easy decision.
