Poll: Gwilt's Best Position?

Post: # 348519Post n1ck »

A poll was asked for about where Jimmy Gwilt should be played, if at all...

State reasons why!

Personally I think hes much better used as on a HFF, he has good skills, good agility, and is almost the perfect size although a little bit too heavy atm).

In my eyes he could become a very good half forward flanker with his raking left foot, in the mould of a ryan o'keefe, but needs to lose abit of his bulk first.

HFF - 3rd tall option. Strong body, decent overhead, thumping kick. Would probably not get as much attention given his tender years (in AFL games terms), so may get free a few times.

IMO would be competing with Hammer, Vossy & Fergs for a spot there.

half forward........if nick has a couple on him...and the opposition have to man up on milne and g-train....the boy could be given a bit of latitude.......

Over the last couple of years a bunch of our players have been given defensive roles, either intermittently or permanently, and there has been popular opinion, if not consensus, here that each of them should be played in the half-forward area.

BJ, Fiora, Dal, Voss, TS40, and now Gwilt, to name a few.

With perhaps the exception of Voss, it's my view that each of these guys is of most use to us forward of centre.

So yes, play Gwilt as a third forward or on the HFF.

To tie in with his New Guinea heritage - missionary

Lance or James??

Wow - I've been away for a few days and now I find the results of this poll.

Those of you who can be bothered reading my guff know that I have been rabbiting on about how Gwilt could be played at HF, become another Hamill-type player (perhaps a bit slower, but with a better kick), etc.

I thought that I was being a bit eccentric about this, but it appears that I am in the majority. What a shame, I thought it might have been a good idea........

The bench.

He hasn't done anything to justify being handed a position on the ground. Kicking 2 goals in a final is not enough.

His weaknesses are
-Lazy
-Slow
-Fumbles a lot

Strengths
-Long kick?
