Fergus Watts - Time to unleash him?

Post: # 433339Post Sam23 »

Bringing 2 5 page+++ debates and countless comments over the past couple weeks...

Fraser out of form, even though I don't think we should drop him it is def. a possibility that we will.

Time to unleash Fergus back into AFL?

He's a dud.

Won't be there next year.

Playing well in the VFL, but i'm unsure if his attributes - strength, height, marking ability are what is needed in the current format of AFL footy, where pace is king.

The fact is that most marks in forward 50 these days are achieved on the lead, not 1 on 1 with the opponent. Hands in the back rule will probably hurt his chances, too.

Still, he's in better form than Gehrig is, and i'd like to see him play.

7 goals in the 2's!

Against no opposition. A bunch of undersized Taswegians.

Todays VFL aint AFL.

hence, why i went on to say that i dont know what his worth at afl level will be. got to remember he was injured last year so its his first real season at the club, but i;m not convinced he is up to it.

You can only play against the opposition given.

He won't be selected this week (and rightly so), but it will be interesting to see how he backs up his performance in the VFL.

Any player who shows real form in VFL should be in line for selection -there's a few slackers in the seniors who aren't producing and need the pressure on them.

Play him! As third tall up forward with G in the side. Kosi to ruck only. Four contested marks for the entire game against Swans. We need someone who can take a grab up forward.

Time for changes to be made!

doc clarke is on the cusp of retirement, Watts is 21-22? Also Clarke is a ruck.

Shane Birss is not that slow!

Averaged 2 goals a game as a spearhead FF, Sweeney was kicking more goals than him. Kicked 7 last week with Sweeney playing VFL reserves (and kicked 4 there), but that's no real indication of consistent form.

I don't care what you guys want to say but Gehrig needs time of....or retirement....

Bring in Watts he would have been more competitive and kicked 2 or more on the weekend against Sydney,

I dare someone to dispute this fact....

and let me reply to you - Gehrig is not playing team footy and has not been all year, maybe a week of will motivate him back in the fold but on top of this his hand is obviously hampering him and watts deserves to be given a go after the run he has had in the scorps since his return from injury...

Gehrig out, watts in....

i think he is playing team football by showing up every week under some duress with injury. he is having a crack and the bullshyte his team-mates are serving him is the reason he looks disinterested.

our problems run far deeper than the g-train methinks
