Win with 9 raw players...
In the past there has been a lot of comments to the effect that players need about 50 games before they become useful (ie know what to do, where to run, have adjusted to the pace of the game etc...) at AFL level on a consistent basis. Now some may argue that it is less than 50.
So lets look at which St Kilda players last night started the game with 30 or less games.....
Allen 0
McEvoy 0
Eddy 0
Geary 7
Armitage 9
Jones 13
Gwilt 15
McQualter 24
Gilbert 26
Despite the gloom and doom from some about last nights win.....we won with 9 raw players. 9!!!!
Of note too was that 4 of them were players elevated from the rookie list.

I would note Nathan Buckley's comment too....
That the contests provided by the young players were to the standard required to allow the better players to win the game. (note: not verbatim..but it was words to that effect)
This is called TEAM football....and has been something we have been lacking in..
