Back of our jumper
One thing that bugs me about the famous St Kilda jumper is that it looks awesome from the front, but boring from the back. There is no red on the back and the only white is in the number.
This has made it hard, in years prior to the clash guernseys, to distinguish some other teams from the mighty Sainters. But maybe more importantly, if I was to buy some memorabilia such as a framed Harvey #35 jersey with his signature on it it would look great up on the wall, except for the lack of red! And we all know how horrible black and white by itself looks.
So, I was wondering if the club could have a look at going with a couple of different ideas for the back of the jumper. If someone is better with computers than me, then feel free to mock up some designs based on what i describe below.
Option 1 - a small red and white stripe near the collar, above the number.
Option 2 - extend the red and white panels over the shoulder in much the same way as Freo or the Demons have the colours on the front of the jumper extending over the shoulder and featuring on the back, again above the number.
Option 3 - have the red, white and black panels coming up from the base of the jumper to meet the number/sponsor panel.
What do you think?

*Rectangular white panel is the Jeld Wen logo.

This might be easier...

I noticed my panels are the wrong way, you get the point though.
How would a red outline on the numbers be?

You sir, have created a monster. I initially was just going to visualise The Doc's ideas, but kept working, modifying and tweaking and ended up with 6 different designs and who knows when I'll stop.
Designs 1 and 2 are slight variations on what is essentially this year's training guernsey design transferred to the back.
Design 3 is the Freo/Melb style shoulders.
Design 4 is the stripes on the lower half only.
Design 5 is designs 3 & 4 combined.
Design 6 is the old style, full stripe pattern continued around and over the back with a panel for the numbers.
Oh, and I added a STKFC motif to the back of the neck. Seems to be in fashion these days, and well, I like it.
made the pic smaller cause it seemed redundant having the front of the guernsey on there six times...

Those are only forteams who have changed cities or their team name.
* Western Bulldogs (FFC - Footscray football club)
* Sydney Swans (SMFC - South Melbourne football club)
* Brisbane Lions (BBFLFC - Brisbane Bears/Fitzroy Lions football clubs)
I realise this, but just because they are the only ones to have done it so far, who's to say we can't? Well, the AFL could, but what would it matter to them?saint edward wrote:st_nick wrote:Oh, and I added a STKFC motif to the back of the neck. Seems to be in fashion these days, and well, I like it.

I don't think there is a need for it, firstly like i said the teams that have it are remembering their past history and carrying it on into the present day. Also it is just another insignifigant thing, it won't help us to play better neither will the colouring on the back of the jumper.
I say we just leave it and let our players do the talking not our outfits, after all we arn't freo

Ok then, i just wouldn't be for a change that had no use or value, but i see what your talking about.
