The "centrelink"clubs shouldn't be able to announce a profit because it's usually only occurred via the AFL's welfare policy.....

Reasonable result for the Saints but it always looks better if your club is profitable, especially if it has achieved the result through it's own means....

Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.

Lions announced a $2 Million + loss

As for the Saints, as I've said in other threads, I'd like to have a good look at the results because I think there is a fair bit of 'creative accounting' going on.

WHY can't we report out P&L now like nearly all the other clubs?

Do we have something to hide Archie?

Don't give me the BS about auditing and waiting until the AGM....that's all a smokescreen.

Give prospective sponsors some idea of what's happening like the rest of the clubs have....oh, and I forgot the fans also

i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

someone asked on arsk archie why wait till march. and the answer was all about auditing, things to do etc. but i still don't get it, why we have to wait until march. other clubs don't.

Eagles profit has been edited-- only 3 mill- after they gave their 1 Mill to the WAFL.

re AGM-- someone may be able to let me know the legalities
But given that the Saints AGM has been the beginning of the year- FEB March- for as long as I have been involved
is there a 12 month- year link? would it need an amemdment to club regulations to move it?
at what point can you decided when an AGM and your annual accounting takes place.

Both Archie and Greg have intimated as early as Aug that there would be a loss for this year.

OK, so they know there will be a loss.

FFS just report it now then?!

They are full of crap, it surely can be done now.

UNLESS our Financial Year is not October to September per AFL standards of course!

it may not, be which is why I asked- as there may be some who have more of an idea of when the Saints financial statements run to...

how on earth do they get that much? they have 40,000 members but lets not forget that the day of the Eagles v Saints game at Subi there were people selling their memberships outside the ground...and even though they have that many members they only get aprox 33,000 people to their home games and a few thousand extra to the derby's.

"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."

I understand that not only do they have 40+k members, but most have purchased reserve seats to ensure they get to see the games.
Couple that with a 2 team town (WCE and Freo) and the bargaining power of the WAFL re their stadium deal, it's not hard to see how they make the money they do, and will continue to do so.

eagles memberships have a reserved seat attached- so they be guarenteed access if they wish
they are capped at>>>>>>>> not sure but thinkng 45,000
there is a waiting list of up to 2 years to get a membership
you can buy an associated membership with no games attached.

( crows are similiar)

even though they hold a membership they don't always attend
- I' not sure if they can do as Geelong members can now do and alertt the club if they are not attending and the seat can then be resold-

given the limited access to WA games I think not. :?

Plus every cent of corporate cash they make goes straight to the Club..theres no box hire or such....WCE are Subi's cash cow and they treat them like Gods accordingly

the reason the wafl (commission) did not want the govenment to build a new stadium in a different location even though the other 2 locations proposed chyt all over subiaco

at subi they hold all the adverising/signage rights, the catering rights, the grog rights, the corporate rights, hire rights when they flog it off to soccer or rugby etc etc

the bloody eagles & dockers get 12 mill bucks a yr from playing at subi yet from memory we get about 6 or 7 mill at the dome

ya multiply that figure over & over yr after yr & its not hard to see whats going to happen to the small fry in the future ie foots, north, melb & us
