Bold Prediction for 09
Well it's almost 2009 so I will make a bold prediction for 09.
Two different teams will play off in the 2009 Grand Final, not going to say who, though it would be obvious that I'd hope we would be one of the participants.
My reasoning, Hawthorn showed how to beat Geelong, as did the Bulldogs.
Two, every coach would have studied Hawthorn's game plan and found weaknesses to exploit.
Remember what happened when we beat them.
Plus there are rumours of bad injuries to Hodge and Croad.

my bold predictions
1) port will be the only interstate team in the finals
2) only one of the cats or hawks will make the prelim
3) richmond will make the top 6 and a prelim
4) brisbane will win the wooden spoon
5) essendon will give lots of teams scares
6) BJ will be top 3 in the brownlow brett harvey wins
7) two high profile footballers will get suspended after testing positive for a third time. Will turn the season on it's head and one very good side will slide very very quickly
8) freo ends up 9th and misses because they lose the unlossable to a surging melbourne (third win after 19 loses in a row)

Interestingly, I heard RL discussing how they have studied the Hawks, and how we were now training accordingly.
Cats will be hard to beat again, coz I reckon they'll be burining after this year (serves them right for believing it was in the bag).
Nothing short of GF would be acceptable for us AFAIAC.
Dogs will do well. Richmond will make the 8. Nth to drop out.

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.
My bold prediction..
The first time we have consecutive losses, people on here will scream for the immediate sacking of RL....to be replaced by Gary Ayres/Leigh Matthews/David Parkin ++
++Disclaimer: If we happen to be Top 2 when they happen, replace above with the following phrases..
*The others have worked us out
* We will struggle to make finals
* We peaked too early, sack the fitness staff
* Its all Kosi and Dal's fault
* The players are protesting cos they dont want to train in Seaford..the Lattes are crap and they cant catch the tram to training
* Sack RL anyway

I hope & trust that we have learned from previous mistakes and that the transition will be a relatively smooth one !!bobmurray wrote:There will be teething problems with the alliance with Sandy...
It'll be like the early years at Casey all over again ,hampering the development of the younger Saints players....
If only the players would just kick it up the guts, instead of retaining posession and looking for options.saint66au wrote:My bold prediction..

Lance or James??

I guess the major difference is that the current coaching staff appear to be more professional in their approach, rather than abrasive.Eastern wrote:I hope & trust that we have learned from previous mistakes and that the transition will be a relatively smooth one !!bobmurray wrote:There will be teething problems with the alliance with Sandy...

Also, did we have a say as to their senior coach?

Nope, Andy Lovell is it ? The former Melb guy has been coaching them for a whileWayneJudson42 wrote:I guess the major difference is that the current coaching staff appear to be more professional in their approach, rather than abrasive.Eastern wrote:I hope & trust that we have learned from previous mistakes and that the transition will be a relatively smooth one !!bobmurray wrote:There will be teething problems with the alliance with Sandy...

Hence the boldness of the predictionHarveysDeciple wrote:couldn't in a million years see that happening.skeptic wrote:I'll call it early
Richmond will have a very poor start to the season and Terry Wallace will resign before he is sacked
I'll make one, if Fevola gets injured early the Blues will miss the 8 again.
All i can say is that there's an element hero worshipping going on at the tigers that has all the ingredients of a disaster
Terry Wallace's 5 year 'development plan' is done, Ben Cousins is the add water superstar
I know it's not a good analogy but it just reminds me of the whole Malcolm Blight era and the expectations that came with relying on 1 person to turn it all around
lets just see

I think you'll find that we are paying the lions share of his salary, as was the case with Hutchy at Casey for the past few years when it all seemed to be smooth sailing !!skeptic wrote:Nope, Andy Lovell is it ? For mine, Richmond are a very good young team and they showed this by beating Hawthorn in what I think was rnd 21 this year. Watch out for them, as I think they've got the age-spread right just now. Bottom half of the 8 I reckon, not enough leaders for top 4 unfortunately.
Interesting to hear people potting the Hawks a bit - jeez they've got a very talented and young team. I'd leave Geelong alone before the Hawks.
We'll be fine - I'm confident of another top 4 finish, or further. List is in place, good back-up coming through which has been our problem.
Could even win it.
I have absolute faith that the N Riewoldt/L Ball playing group will bring one home before they're done.
Go SAINTS.

my predictions
richmond to get away to a flyer winning the first two or three games, the media will go into a frenzy and have them as premiership contenders, before they fall away to finish 9th or 10th. they did that pre cousins, and they'll do it post cousins.
someone who didn't make the finals this year (and therefore will have had longer prep) will win first 5 and the media will whip into a frenzy again.
cats to be up there. hawks and buddy to fall away (still very young).
eagles to be the big movers and will make the 8.

there are currently 2 threads that mention ben cousins in the title on punt road end (only one of those actually dedicated to him alone). hardly hero worshipping - more talk of him on saintsational (probably due to one particular poster who is obsessed with him it would seem).skeptic wrote:

tiges and carlton to make the 8 if not affected by injury, sydney to fall out finally.
Im particuarly interested to see what the bulldogs do this year - will they continue to be top 4 or will they slide a bit?

The way he finished last season he will be our best player next year.
If 7) is right their team won't be such a happy team.
