Red, White and Black

Post: # 695673Post SydneySainter »

I was in a bookstore the other day and came across a little pocket book in

the sports sections, titled RED, WHTE AND BLACK. It was basically a 2004

season in review with profiles on players, coaching staff and the board.

Troy Schwarze was labelled as being the "utility", the Clarke brothers

were referred to as "blue-chip investments", Kosi as the "the young gun",

Brent Guerra as the "wildcard", Dal Santa as the "dynamo"...you get the

drift. Essentially the point of the book was that St. Kilda had made terrific

progress in 2004 and a flag could well be around the corner. Although the

book was an interesting read and still contained some great pieces of St.

Kilda trivia, next time the club feels they are on the verge of a

premiership, they may want to write the book AFTER they win it.

When I first read this title, I wondered if it was about something else.

In the 1970s, I can remember having a badge that said "Red, White and Black". And sometimes I've seen people say "Red, Black and White".

Is there one DEFINITIVE version of these colours? One clear statement about the order of the words?

Thanks.

I'd say that Red, White and Black is the most appropriate, as that's the colour order of our jumper.

Funny,

I was recently just given an old Saints badge that said 'Red, White and Black Attack'.

Corny, but i found it amusing and might even wear it to some games this season.

DAL SANTO! .... we have no Santa at St Kilda.
If we had a Santa we would have more premierships than stinking Carlton and Essendon put together.
