New player weights

Post: # 697196Post thirty-seven!? »

In the new 2009 saint magazine (mentioned in a different post) which has arrived in mailboxes today, it looks like they have given us the new heights and weights of all the players - something which the website has struggled with for 2 years...

Below are some good improvements (assuming both lists are correct for their respective releases):

Gram: +3kg (now 87kg)
Leigh Fisher: +4cm (now 188cm)
Hayes: +2kg (now 87kg)
Joey: +2kg (now 78kg)
Rooey: +4kg (now 96kg)
Raph: +7kg (now 85kg)
Goddard: +2cm (now 191cm)
Gilbert: +8kg (now 92kg)
Kosi: +2kg (now 98kg)
Sam Fisher: +4kg (now 92kg)
DalSanto: +3kg (now 86kg)
Goose: -6kg (now 94kg)
Gwilt: +4kg (now 92kg)
Steven: +4kg (now 80kg)
Connors: +11kg (now 76kg)
Geary: +11kg (now 88kg)
Milne: +3kg (now 82kg)

This is positive stuff, especially for the younger players... although i do question the fact that Leigh Fish has apparently grown 4cm...?

What does everyone else think of this?? Positive that this much weight has been put on (assuming that its gonna be muscle, in the Hawthorn/ Brisbane circe 2002 mould), or a negative??

He DOES actually: Listed at 178cm and 68cm, with a photo showing off a Mo which even Andrew McQualter would be proud of!!

Things that strike me are:
a) how the hell did Leigh Fisher grow 4 cm? The mans 24, surely he should be over growth spurts.

b) how did eljay manage to make it onto an afl list weighing 65 kilos? i had a mate who weighed that in grade 6.

c) goose is a monster and will destroy the opposition. destroy them!

What measurement is 68cm referring to?
Might be showing off something we all would be proud of.

if goose gets back playing regularly football his 6 kg loss will assist him to potentially run zig zagged in comparison to straight lines as per usual

Actually, I'd say that's stretching it more than just a bit.

a) It's uncommon, but not unheard of for a growth spurt in a man's 20's. James Braddock, the heavyweight champion, grew an inch taller when training to fight Max Baer and he was 30.

b) Eljay did suffer a punctured lung in the year he was drafted

Gilbo is gonna monster some forwards this year with the added strength. Just hope he hasnt lost any speed. There will be pain in his tackles.

On Leigh Fisher, as he had torn his hamstring so bad he probably had short hamstrings, when he started stretching his hamstrings it probably made his legs grow 4cms

Personally, I think 11kg is WAY too much muscle gain in one pre-season

The original figures that i was comparing the new ones to were off the saints website... so there's a strong chance that they could be up to 2 years old.

In saying that, even if those numbers were from last pre-season, it is not that unhealthy, as the weight would have been put on across the entire year - not just the pre-season

I'd say the origonal measurements were taken this time last year so 11kg's over 12 months isn't bad.

If people believe some of the figures then you believe in Santa, the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny.

Geary would be 80kg at best....more likely 75kg....

I have seen him at training and he aint even close to Lenny (who would be 85kg)

If we had a reference point
ie/ BJ is 90kg and 190cm it would be easier to work out (estimate) their weights.....and height...

Do they keep track of supporter's statistics?

I'm feeling a little short for my weight at the moment.
