First game of the year...replaces Sam.

To watch him and Steven play and see how they go will be great.

Was still confident of a Saints win, but highly unlikely if these two are out as well !

This is doing my head in. It seems as though Chips confirmed out but Dal still possible but Begley and Armo in. Hmmm. Our defence is what could have saved us against the Hawks but depleted in all areas around the ground, now I'm not so sure.

Oh well, we have to trust Ross and his staff, and lets hope they're all cherry ripe on the 1st Sunday in September.

No rewards for winning in August (not for us, anyway)

If Armo is in then f****** YEEEE HAAAAA. Pity I will miss out on the first half cause our game starts at 1.00pm. I can feel a hammy starting to tighten. I may need to have a week off injured as well.

From Saints facebook .....

Sam Fisher has withdrawn from St Kilda's Round 19 team. One of David Armitage, Colm Begley or Nick Heyne will replace him in the side to face Hawthorn

This is a fair dinkum joke, if Fisher and Dal are both out is there any point sending any starting players?

We may aswell just send out the Sandy 22...

...except the team still looks pretty good, good enough to at least give the Hawks a hard time, probably even win.

Fisher won't play: Lyon

By Jennifer Witham
1:03 PM Fri 07 August, 2009

ST KILDA has ruled another key player out of its Saturday clash with Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium with defender Sam Fisher the latest to pull out.

Coach Ross Lyon confirmed Fisher's omission on Friday at Melbourne airport as the Saints prepared to fly out.

He also said a rumour claiming midfielder Nick Dal Santo would also be a late withdrawal was false.

"Fisher hasn't pulled up well, he was in a bit of doubt but he is certainly out," Lyon said.

"At this stage Dal is planning to play."

The Saints travelled with all three emergencies and will choose Fisher's replacement from David Armitage, Colm Begley and Nick Heyne.

That makes 13 unavailable

Nick Riewoldt - concussion
Breddon Goddard - knee
Leigh Montagna - elbow
Lenny Hayes - back
Sam Gilbert - back
Sam Fisher - ? hasn't pulled up well
Steven Baker - knee
Matthew Maguire - hamstring
Xavier Clarke - ACL
Jarryd Allen - hip
Luke Miles - ? not selected in any team
Leigh Fisher - ? not selected in any team
Alistair Smith - ? not selected in any team

Not nearly as bad as that game against Hawthorn at the MCG a few years back when 17 were unavailable.

That one point win sure has been a big loss.
Maybe next time it would be better to send the second 22 to play against Sydney instead.

Defender for defender would suggest Begley.
But Gwilt could play defence and that would allow Armitage to come in.

Armitage will be filthy if he doesn't get a game.

Wouldn't Gwilt be in attack with Roo out? Otherwise, we've only got one leading forward in Kosi.
