Something Fishy About Ticketek

Post: # 1002786Post ace »

I was afer MCC members ticket
I was already logged in to My Ticketek before midday.
When the time pips finished I was in.
As soon as the barcode box appeared I typed in my bar code.
I only had one bar code so no delay there.

I tried for level N.
It came back that they were all sold or sales being processed.

The only way I could have been beaten out was if thousands of people had prior access before the opening at 12:00
I retried a number of times to no avail.
Eventually I gave up on N and went for Q

I had two Tickettek windows preopened in case of problems.
The best I was offered was top deck row P.
I rejected that and tried with my other open window.
This time I was offered top deck row N in the same bay.
2 rows further forward!

I eventually reluctantly accepted now knowing that something is very fishy at Ticketek.

At least in bay Q47 I am dead on the wing but higher and further back than should have been expected.

if better seats come up its because someone else had them online but changed their mind and went for other seats. they hold it for a few minutes for you.

Anyone that "cut and paste' like I do will have been quicker.

By the way thousands will have been trying to get tickets the same time as you. Many wlil have heard about how quick things went yesterday and so few would be tardy.

Who know s exactly how a booking system handles all the thousands of orders it gets.

There might also ber some IT "smarties" who have programed "robots" to do their bookings for them quicker at the touch of one mouseclick.

Who am I competing with.
Only MCC members, no one else.
Only a few thousand St Kilda and Collingwood full MCC members.
Most at work without access to a computer or allowed to use work computers for private purposes.
Remember there are only 50,000 full MCC members, most are neutrals so nowhere near as keen as we are.

The only way I could have been beaten to 7 bays of level N was if the seats were already being held before midday.
Quite possibly people on the phone to Ticketek and the sales person is able to hold the seat just prior to sales opening at 12:00:00.0

I think I read that about 12/14% Of MCC Members are Pies.

I bumped into a MCC member last night when I picked up my tickets.
He was about 70 and a Saints fan....his IT son was going to book his tickets for him today as he did not have a clue about computers.

Most people if they cannot book themselves will have wife/son/mate who will do it fo them.

Ticktek is alo not at all concerned about being fair. Only in pumping out tickets quickly with mininaml overhead.

Seems to me that they don't release all the tickets at the same time, and that, from time to time, the poorest seats are made available first. So best available means best of a bad bunch.

If you wait, better seats become available as they release them.

This way, people who are desperate for a ticket grab poor ones, and people who are wavering and come along later are tempted with good seats.

Call me a cynic but......

Just reported that this allocation of 12,000 MCC tickets were sold within the hour.

So it would seem that plenty of people were all online early.

I was logged on ready to go and eventually got tickets up at about 12:06. Q39 Row D, on the flank but close to the front so pretty happy. I had a lot of trouble selecting tickets though and probably stuffed it around a bit being impatient and hitting refresh.

Got mine by about 12:10.
Picking M, N, or Q didn't seem to work, so I chose "reserved seat", and
that coughed up a place in Q44 after about a minute.
Pity we couldn't have the "Ezy Ticket" print-out option.

MCC Members Note

If you didn't get a reserved seat the gates will open at 8:00AM not the previously advised 10:30AM.
Means you need to be queuing in the dark for the remaining 10,000 seats and 1,000 standing room.

let me say i'm happy with M4, but

can understand that some would be disappointed especially if they knocked back 1st offer and landed shite seats.

the way the software is set-up is poor. to have to knock-back anything in hope or sheer desperation is a disgrace.

there should be a complete list of southern and ponsford prime, premium, standard, restricted and standing to chose from rather than it being a 'southern or ponsford' lottery.

timeout is BS aswell. the server should be made to be able to handle it.

I said the same last week.

The software is shyte.

For the price you are paying, you should at least be able to request a bay of seating to suit your need.

Say...You want seets in M5 + or - 2 bays.

Sounds like they now realise that it will be 100,000 again......whereas they may have originally been thinking only 80-90K.

I eventually took row N in Q47 but I am very suspicious that they filled Q47 before started offering row A in Q46.
After all Q47 is exactly on the wing, wheras Q46 is one bay around from the exact wing.

Brickhead Packer thinks software is padded clothing.

You should be able to see the untaken seats and click on it to make it yours. And highlight a block and click if you want more than one seat.

And what happens if others do it at the same time because you have 8 minutes to confirm?

If it is like booking Theatre Tickets In London..or plane tickets they cannot.

Only one can select at a time. If you do not complete the booking they go back in the pool.

Works well there. But that would be customer service.

Finals ticket selling is all what is easiest and best for Tiketmaster and not the customer.

Are 100K plane tickets sold at the same time. If everyone had to wait for everyone else we would be on the computer for a month. I reckon people who got tickets should think themselves lucky because plenty missed out.

correct. i couldn't believe how easy it was to get mine. then again i wanted only one and the priority was not the best seat but any ticket.

bad luck to those who missed out, but i reckon there will still be some floating around over the next few days.
