He has categorically guaranteed that Ross will stay at the club.
So Ross is a goner!

wel I guess I will generally take people at face value when they say something-
I ned to re hear it ( and AW don;t upload anywhere up to 24 hours or more later- unless a really interesting interview )

in thinking about why I don't feel it was the cliche'd response about Ross's job being safe was simple body language- words used and manner response given.
- he did not hesitate, he did take the phone call at 4.40 AM in America, he did hesitate on a later question- was queried on any belief in playing this years Grand final; he said about winning games ( did not answer g/f) he mentioned planning for the long term, and sustained success,

with the Ross question he mentioned how Ross had build the club- football wise etc etc.( I really do forget the nitty gritty) there was no mention on seeing what happens over the year, may have mentioned review BUt not a REVIEW .

he was asked about supporters responses to current situation- and Dwayne said was it just the angst supporters who rang in etc..and Micheal felt there would be some but not majority. ( my take- some will always disbeleive the words they hear )

Thanks. That's great. Will listen tomorrow.

Sounds as though they are well and truly into "brand protection" and fearing a supporter backlash for perceived coaching/recruitment/management (read off-field) errors.

I thought Nettlefold sounded confident, sure of the club, sure of the coach and no hesitation that the coach Ross Lyon will stay at the club this year or next year.

The thing is we can't sack Ross, we will just be more of a laughing stock than we already are! We need stability for once and can we please keep a coach through a troubleling time and come out the other end a better club? Geelong and Collingwood kept Thompson and Malthouse through troubled times for 8 to 10 years and won premierships. We need Ross for the rebuild and that's final, he is a good coach and is the right man.

Another thing, I am waiting to see how many of those nancy boy supporters out there drop off next year when we aren't making Grand Finals? It is a disgrace, I have been a member for 21 years now and I am only 34. Stick with the club or piss off you bunch of soft c*cks!

When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

I think a fair few will drop off but surely abusing people for something that hasnt happened yet is a bit over the top.

so thats a fact that Nettlefold works for Westaway?
and good job picking up "body language" from a radio interview
the fact that the club is fending off questions about Lyon's tenure worries me
he's contracted till the end of next year.

where did it say he was working for westaway? maybe I should have put 'meeting with' :? Jeld wen is not Greg's company,
he is over conversing with one of the clubs major sponsors!

and the only reason they need to fend of questions is because they are being asked....... Demons have been fending them for 2 years.

body languge or style/tone of verbal response- I wasn't the only one who felt he delivered his answers strongly,- and be it body language or hearing the tone of his answers as always I 'listened for myself' and came to a decision that suited me'

He's look after one of our sponsors who put lots of $ into the club ...

One of the more important jobs of a CEO.

Probably good to be protecting our main income stream during a time like this.

Actually he's done exactly what he should be doing really.

I am with Stinger here. Footy is a serious business. He is the CEO of an organisation with a hundred odd staff and turnover of 40 odd million bucks.

No time for holidays. Take your 4 weeks in December like everyone else. Its not the 70's. I'm not going to be bothered listing all the thing he could be doing. Ill just say there are plenty.

he is NOT on holidays
and given the times he was on the phone to Programs on australian radio I'd say this was pne very long day
and probably followed a couple of days of conferring with board and staff here in australia over the previous 2 days..

Of all the ignorant posts...

He's not the prime minister and we are not at war. As Legendary stated - he is doing exactly what he should be doing.

That's fine by me Stinger. You can have your opinion which you do frequently.

I reckon the first line was ignorant - that's why I wrote it. THEN I reckon I backed it up, is that ok with you?
