The Age crimbles.

Post: # 1239883Post Leo.J »

I think they meant Geelong crumbles on their front page.

It is crumbling as a news paper, there is about 8 paragraphs on last nights game, and the stats are about 10 pages away on their own.

These guys are one of our sponsors, yet they give us just about no coverage.

Really average.

I'm not renewing my subscription next year, I think the club should get out too.

What was once a pretty well balanced news paper, is now going by the way side.

The changing media landscape has caused this largely, but like most things in the world today the consumer and the people on the ground suffer while the Ginas of the world keep getting richer.

They use Brisbane based journos to cover games up there. Anything beyond a few paragraphs would probably be way beyond their knowledge of the game !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

I only noticed Riewoldt judged 3rd best on ground... No name against the votes. Interesting.

I think that is because it was Mrs Riewoldt from the Gold Coast.

Thanks Mum.

Exactly the same written coverage as is on the afl site. Supplied by AAP, no named journo.
Pathetic really.

Unfortunately the Age (+the SMH) is the only base we have for a balanced and intellectually serious newspaper. We should demand more of it not throw it away.

and the herald-sun's coverage was largely based on aap as well. is it possible that no media organisation except aap actually sent anyone up to brisbane last night?

Dont bother reading any newspaper reports whatsoever anymore...

Get my fix either through here or a few other similar sites...

Newspaper quality is at an all time low, and the options available now make them nigh on pointless...

The Age gave us a small portion of a two page spread, the rest of which is taken up by the Collingwood game. Not impressed.

While they're trying to survive Hurricane Gina they won't be flying journos to Brisbane, sponsor or no. Incidentally, the AAP reportage was ordinary.

I was pretty disappointed with this also. For what was a very important four points for us.
I watched the first 45 minutes of Seven's 10am footy show, and all I got was d*ckhead Drew Pearshaped being mundane, and twenty five repeats of Hunt's goal. omg

coverage of our game overall has been 'under the radar' to say the least
try ninemsn
http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/afl/

and if you look really really carefully you will find the Lions lost to the Saints Before playing the Suns next week

and under the headline Collingwood etc etc-
the Saints won a tight one.- with video starting with the pies under the link

Try Yahoo7- and you need to check under the video of' " will M M coach again" to find a report on our game
http://au.sports.yahoo.com/videos/watch/29985194/
although Kirky( coaching a saints team) does a nice report

Sportal- yet again do not do coaches post game interview-
MMM today The Rub - lots of chat with Spud but the only vague Saints connection is Ricky getting arrested.
Just as well Saints.com..au is doing videos- because Fox don't anymore

Only Post game interview I could find was ABC- with Ahmeed Saad
