Selection error re 6 day break

Post: # 1335871Post saintspremiers »

With so many kids why oh why did Watters make only 1 change?

You gotta mix it up a bit when short breaks are involved.

It's called young player management.

Yeah, seems like there wasn't a big emphasis on sports science in the process of selections this week.

Missing Wright out of the backline. Need a solid Full Forward to complement Riewoldt. Haven't had one since Kosi was serviceable in 2009 and haven't had a great one since Fraser.

This for the 1st half, 2nd half wouldn't matter if you had Franklin down there cos he'd never get it.

didn't make a lot of sense did it

Maister and Wright are hardly interchangeable players... completely changed the structure

Really should have had Dunnel in

Esp as Beau has been off for a month

Also didn't really see the benefit of Sipposs as the sub... can someone explain that 1 to me... if he's got a niggle, rest him and bring in someone that can play a full game

Did we make a mistake?

Small backman out for a tall forward? Not sure what the structure is....

Siposs should have played at ff tonight instead of Maister. Yet even when he comes on he's used as a half back. The forward line was simply pisspoor when the game was winnable. Very disappointing result tonight

Siposs came on as a forward. Couldnt touch so went back to replace Stanley who was positvily awful tonight.

The selection of Maister was structurally correct, hell we need more strength and an alternate tall option in our forward line.

The problem was Beau's exectution was dissapointing. Mostly.

Try Lee next time, or even Kosi

The tall option was not the problem, the problem is our tall option is not very good, combine that with him playing on one of the best tall defenders in the competion and you have a world of hurt. Sippa would have also got killed by Rutten because of his physical strength. The other issue is none of our ruckman can play as key forwards, they look so out of place.
This is our biggest Achilles heel, we have no other options. If Stanley goes forward who do we play as a tall defender?

My issue is not the mechanics of who should who shouldn't. More so that most clubs chop and change there sides a lot more than we do if their form isn't consistent. Whilst we were travelling okish, with so many kids they tire and can't play out 4 quarters week on week.

Does that make sense?
