Had the pleasure of being a customer of his for years when he was in melbourne !
Some of the stories about the saints he used to tell me were hilarious .
It was amazing what the player's used to get away with .

One of my favourite Saints players John Bonney, those stats read like an on / off career, not how I remember it BUT it was a very long time ago..

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

That Deli he and his family set up in Bambra Road was fabulous.
I spent countless hours talking about the 'old days' at St Kilda with him.
IIRC his son was very good friends with Steven Lawrence.

And some homesick issues. He returned to Tasmania three times (1970, 1972 and 1975). He kicked three goals in the 1971 GF and was a very skilful player.

Why did he do the interview on the phone? Surely he would fly in for it.

BREEN??? Wrong. Went to school at St Bedes.

John Bonney's number 1 guernsey was handed over to an equally handy player named Barker when he retired.

I'll never forget his "bump" on Bluey Hampshire against Geelong at Moorabbin in the late sixties. Bluey was left spitting up rib bones for weeks.

Excellent wingman, John Bonney, and another player to the long list that makes me wonder at the lost premiership opportunities during the Alan Jeans era.

Yeah, I think you're right... Not sure why I thought that?

Maybe because he was boss of the TFL when I played there?? I assumed he was a Wegian... We adopted him then...

So like Nick's a queenslander, Barry is a Wegian

A ate of mine has just caught up with him on holiday in Thailand. Reckons he's a great bloke who has signed numerous bits o memorabilia. I'll seek clarification from the source itself!

Breen will always be remembered for that one kick, especially if we don't win another flag.
