Trading - Near misses

Post: # 1405305Post luckysaint »

We all like to talk retrospectively about trades completed, but how about the near misses:
- Jason Blake nearly went to the Tigers. Retrospectively a great decision to keep him. What sort of compensation were we looking to get at the time?
- Mitch Brown would have cost two second rounders
- Dean Cox was targeted by Grant Thomas before he became a superstar. We weren't prepared to offer more than a second rounder at the time? GT came out last year and said he was trying to do a straight swap with Milne.

Anyone remember any others and have regrets or a great sense of relief?

Re Cox one my understanding was would have happened except Gardiner got injured during the season and what he did in last 2 months plus worry re Gardiner's injury pushed the price up .
