ST KILDA
INJURIES
David Armitage (knee) test
Sam Gilbert (foot) 7 weeks
Nathan Wright (broken leg) 6 weeks
Eli Templeton (broken arm) 3-4 months
Jarryn Geary (elbow) 3-4 months
Tom Hickey (foot) 5 weeks
Sam Fisher (hamstring) 4 weeks
Trent Dennis-Lane (ankle) 2-3 weeks
James Gwilt (hamstring) 3 weeks
Luke Delaney (hip) test
Blake Acres (ankle) 6 weeks
Spencer White (foot) 2 weeks
Luke Delaney (hip) test
ON THE BLOCK: There will be one forced change from the side that lost to Gold Coast two weeks ago with Blake Acres gone for six weeks in yet another long-term injury. Billy Longer struggled against the Suns but is needed until Tom Hickey returns while Clint Jones, Tom Curren and Leigh Montagna will all be looking forward to putting the Gold Coast game behind them.
SUPERCOACH STUDS AND DUDS: ROUND 10
ON THE CUSP: Of the injured brigade only Luke Delaney and David Armitage are a chance to play against Collingwood on Friday night. Sandringham also had a bye at the weekend but Seb Ross, Brodie Murdoch and Sam Dunell have been pressing their claims for several weeks and Alan Richardson will want to have a look at Daniel Markworth at senior level before the year is out.
AL PATON’S FORECAST: The Saints seem to have settled in 16th spot, not developing as quickly as Melbourne but still a more competitive outfit than GWS and Brisbane — whatever that’s worth. Injuries have taken a huge toll and the middle third of the year will be a challenging one with matches against Collingwood (home), Port Adelaide (away), Geelong (away), West Coast (home) and Richmond (home). And to be honest it doesn’t get a whole lot easier after that; Saints fans probably don’t want to know that they don’t get to play GWS, Brisbane or Melbourne again in 2014. Better to concentrate on those impressive youngsters.

Depressingly long injury list - and the decline in our performance is probably inversely proportional to the growth in our injury list......

Well there you go because I thought he was extemely poor. Not a mark or a kick and only 4 handballs. Yep hit the ball a lot in the ruck but we could probably that american guy out here at the moment to do that.
Re: hun's hot and not hot
Love the comment that we have not developed as quickly as Melbourne.... um come on, they are three to four years of drafting ahead of us. Add in the extra injuries, dumb comment.

2013 trade/draft best ever?
Billings - future brownlow medallist Longer - future best ruck
Dunstan - future captain Eli - future cult hero
Acres - future norm smith

Exactly, very strange considering they bottomed out 7 years ago… just couldn't get back up again.Solar wrote:Love the comment that we have not developed as quickly as Melbourne.... um come on, they are three to four years of drafting ahead of us. Add in the extra injuries, dumb comment.

Yep but how was his marking or kicking or even his handball. He was very ordinary considering the guy he played on had not played any game of footy for one year. He was very good the previous week.

Re: hun's hot and not hot
I thought he wasn't disgraced but more showed he could be a very competitive ruckman in the future. I wouldn't have said he was outstanding either. I think for me Shenton standing up and Newnes were my only winners. Lenny showed he is expected to carry us still and Jack looked better than the last few weeks maybe.
Re: hun's hot and not hot
Didn't longer have 14 touches just the game before? And got more touches than both Carlton ruckmen combined?
He is still too young and Raw.... But his physicality and aggression... Big tick

Yes looks promising but as soon as Hickey is match fit I would imagine he will replace Longer.
Re: hun's hot and not hot
Plugger was just saying he didn't have much influence around the ground that particular day, I agree, good tap work though.
Fair enough he wasn't mentioned in our best, no marks.
Doesn't mean he is no good or won't make it.

Nailed it! But I suspect that you meant to take out "the decline in" there TB?True Believer wrote:Depressingly long injury list - and the decline in our performance is probably inversely proportional to the growth in our injury list......
I'd also take out "probably".

They only had one ruckman, Warnock had 13 touches.BigMart wrote:Didn't longer have 14 touches just the game before? And got more touches than both Carlton ruckmen combined?
I guess he got more touches than Warnock and Kreuzer combined.

Re: hun's hot and not hot
30% of the team on the injury list - Ive said it before but there is something seriously amiss with our fitness and injury management regimes AGAIN in 2014!
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!
