Acres, Curren and Saad have been in the senior side this year and are performing at Sandy. Not to mention Lee and Goddard going pretty well. Unfortunately for all of them it's going to be hard to get back in because the AFL side looks solid right now and injuries are minimal.

you would like to think so and then you look at the Swans mids. And what they have coming out of their academy. Yikes, that midfield is going to dominate the competition for a long time pumping the ball into a multi million dolar forward line.

You know, aFter all the crap Tommy Lee has copped, you have to give him props for buckling down in a new role and giving it his all for Sandy. Apparently he looked at bit at sea early down back but he seems to be getting better each game. Its becoming a pretty common story in AFL where a failed forward turns into a very good backman. They skills of height, good hands and marking, accurate kicking and reading the play are really good attributes for modern AFL defenders. But whatever happens, well done Tommy for not sulking or spitting the dummy.

Brown looks about the same build as Lee. we don't need to rookie more used footballers like we did this year even if they have played this year. Rookie draft should be for at least 3 young unproven footballers.

Have to agree Bluthy.
When we drafted Paddy and then Bruce started showing all the signs of being a star fwd - Tommy could have packed it in and head back to the WAFL and his mates.
But clearly him and the club came up with a plan. Its no secret that Chips and Dempster are at the end of their careers - so there is an opportunity there.
Well done to him for giving it a go and to the club for identifying this. It may well just work for us.

He's playing at CHF and is the best player at Sandy at the moment.

Tommy Lee has really showed his commitment to the game. I'm glad he's found his niche down back, although I think he can play multiple roles in the future. Like Hickey, he is a footballer!

I have a question that I'm not sure needs a separate thread:

With St Kikda having a standalone VFL team next year, does St Kilda have an extended list with enough players for both teams or does St Kilda VFL have an independent list with room for our non 1st team players? If the first option, I assume we'd keep players like Siposs, Curren and Simpkin who are guns at the VFL level, but won't get many AFL games with us. Would we redtaft Clint for the VFL team?

I don't think we have stand alone next year. I think it maybe the year after but the VFL expets will know. As for the list well the reserves side will get players from local leagues to top up but none of those players are able to play for the Saints seniors no matter how good they are going. As for keeping players that maybe delisted well it isn't that easy. A lot like a fresh start or go interstate. I know we kept CJ and TDL last season but it doesn't always happen. And there maybe some sort of salary cap for the extra players anyway which would make it impossible to keep them. Even if there isn't it may cost our club to much to keep them.

Whilst Id love to see CJ play for the Zebs next year he deserves to be at least rookie listed by Essendon after this season.
