Hickey straight into the 18. Not sure that means anything at this stage.

It will be good to see how Paddy and Bruce play together without Roo.

Pretty sure that the three to be omitted have to come from those named on the bench.

Deconstructing the team, that forward line as named, looks even more top heavy and even slower than last week's. Oh the dripping irony. Yet we are playing a faster and more skilful team - though after last week's joke opponent, the latter goes without saying.

But we may well win anyway. Now that would be one dripping irony example to savour.

Is Joffabouy similar to a hypothetical "Bunkjoff" or ""Jofferland" or is it "Joffaboy2"?

saintspremiers wrote:Is Joffabouy similar to a hypothetical "Bunkjoff"
Maybe if you removed the 'j' ?
saintspremiers wrote: "Jofferland"
No. That's sounding too close to moreland, which is too geographically close to bomberland, which would really stick in my guts. So no.
saintspremiers wrote:"Joffaboy2"?
Oh the dripping irony if that were true.

Now back to deconstructing the team to play Port.

I predict Armo to miss (possibly) and Shenton, which leaves one more for the chop. I also predict that I agree with the other posters who are worried that the forward line we've named is way too top heavy, even more so again given the opponent and the predicted weather.

I am really perplexed as to what Tommy Lee has to do to get a game.
No Delaney and no Gilbert surely means there's a slot for a tall, mobile back?
He seems to have been doing really well in that role at Sandy -- maybe even transformed himself.
Surely we need to check that out at the senior level before we turf him off the list.

McKenzie touched it 9 times for Sandringham on the weekend, Ross 25 times. Ross is stiff.

Four tall forward line! You don't see that much. Should take a bit of pressure off Paddy, hopefully he can snag a couple.

We might be testing a Longer/Hickey ruck combo to come into affect next year when the sub rule is dumped. Hickey rucking a bit longer than just pinch hitting ala a Bruce type of cameo.

I hope you're right on all counts.

If the sub rule goes I think he will be a pretty handy duo. I actually thought Hickey looked pretty good in the forward line at times this season, for a bloke of his size I think he does a really good job of holding the ball in the forward 50. He just isn't quite up to AFL level if he needs to stay up there for 80-90% of the game. If he could squeeze a bit more time in the ruck I think he could establish himself.

Still haven't heard how getting rid of the sub means you will play 2 ruckmen. Why would you? Longer can do 80% of the game. Why play another just for 20%. Funny how the Hawks were the choice of sides to say 2 ruckmen work. Well under pressure last night it worked terribly. I really think the days of 2 ruckmen are very cluse to over unless one of them is a genuine forward. On that has does 4 tealls work tomorrow? The ball is going to come out of our backline that quickly if we don't mark it especially against the run of Port.

Hawkes made it work pretty well in back to back Grand Finals.

Yep they could have probably played 5 ruckmen. If you can explain how the set up works with 2 ruckmen I would be very interested.
