Hugh Goddard collapsed at training

Post: # 1592197Post Bluthy »

Channel 7 just said Hugh Goddard was rushed to hospital with heat exhaustion and put on a drip. Expected to make a full recovery. The big guys are going to battle with the heat.

Great signs if that's an indicator of how had he's pushing himself

Heat exhaustion can be dangerous, hopefully he's ok and recovers quickly.

Not sure you have to push yourself to collapse. IMaybe take it back a notch. They should be keeping a close eye on these young big guys in that sort of heat.

Yep. Was only 31 at my place but the heat had a bite to it and the air was sort of heavy.

Can't believe how quiet this site is at the moment. Plenty of comments on Saints Facebook about this.

Technically that's missing training.

May not have been adequately hydrated before starting training, it happens.

 News said he was discharged from hospital. Armo said it had been grueling up there. Goddard apparently is extremely driven (runs in the family obviously) and might have said he was fine as he didn't want to drop out of any drills. But they should be monitoring the young big guys carefully. You want them to do as strong a preseason as possible but no point cooking them so early.

Maybe you should be supervising their training.

You seem to know more than the coaches.

I think like all of us, Bluthy is entitled to his opinion.

He should be able to express it without copping side-swipes.

Because the club and coaches are never capable of error of course. Lets just shut this whole site down because "the coaches know better" than anything us linament sniffers with our half-baked, passionately ill-informed ideas could throw out here. Can we put a ban on "coaches know better" statement for this site? It's the most inane, nothing statement trotted out from people who don't want to discuss something they find uncomfortable.

I'm sure you'll find the quoted poster has never been critical of a decision taken by any of our coaches, selectors, recruiters, etc.

If there is a ban on "the coaches know better" statement then plugger will have nothing to say

They know more then you and me and to argue otherwise means you have tickets on yourself or you don't rate our coaches. And I would still have plenty to say if there was a ban on that especially when you pick who should be dropped. You only have to follow footy for a minute to know you always get that wrong.

Went past the ground late morning today, empty, so maybe a day inside on the game plan or gym.

Just as humid today, and probably same temp

Richo said on the triple M interview that Jake just slept in and so they were all punished. If there was a fatality and there was a hold up then I don't think that would warrant the early training session. Pretty easy to check i would have thought.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
