Some consideration would need to be given to playing some of the home and away fixtures against interstate teams there; we never break even at Etihad when we play the Lions, Power, Freo etc and so this might be the answer.

They will never ever play AFL games there apart from practice matches and maybe a pre season game. 30 million isn't going to get you a stand that holds more than about 500 people and people just wont stand in the rain anymore. Also I would suggest part of the deal with the council will mean they cant play there.

Does anyone know if the Huggins stand will remain?
Be nice if it did. I doubt it though.

Lets face it, having Finnis as CEO and Gillon at HQ has been an absolute shot in the arm. We have gone from rabble to professional. The club is on serious terra firma at present. I can only see good things happening on field developing from this solidity.

One question: Peter Summers has been very quiet. Is this is deliberate or is he unwell or something?

Another question: Would Frankston VFL and/or the Stingrays be interested in taking over Seaford?

Presidents should be not seen and not heard. Finnis is doing all the work, Summers just needs to turn up to board meetings and ask the right questions.

Summers was in the photo of the Moorabbin announcement.

It's legitimately scary how almost all Victorian clubs need 'government cash' to stay afloat and are not even close to financially self dependent. SCARY for the future of the game tbh.

TV rights is the cash cow but wowee soon it'll go digital and most likely cheaper...What's more 5 million is KILLING us...tbh think a few clubs need to cut back on the old sports scientists and run a bit of a tighter ship imo.

It's GREAT move...but this team is basically welfare bludgers and will always be welfare bludgers.

As long as the game as a whole is making money then its not that important how the clubs are going individually even though it would be better if we broke even most years. I'm unsure digital means less money either. It will just be sold to more outlets which will be annoying but that's how sport is heading.

Great news. Looking forward to seeing the designs and artist impressions of how it's all going to look.

Should be interesting to see how the club goes about raising the $$$.

The media summary they put up on the website showed some of Summer's address at the presser; alive and well I'd say.

I think Finnis is quite happy to manage the media stuff (no doubt doing some long range planning for whatever his next gig might be!)
