Re: Thoughts on motlop
Personally I want elite mids above all else.
Our forward line is looking to have enough options: Paddy, Bruce, Membrey, Weller, Lonie,Billings, Sinclair...resting mids..

Re: Thoughts on motlop
Potential gun player.
I would need much more information though. Probably too old for us anyway.
He is probably suited to a Bulldogs, Crows, Port, WC, Pies list profile.

Re: Thoughts on motlop
Cats want to trade him for a reason, refuses to work hard both ways , unaccountable though flashy player. A big no from me
And the president said " I did not have sex with that woman"
And our former president said " Football is like golf"
Go Sainters !!!!!

Re: Thoughts on motlop
Personally a big wrap on Motlop.Love the way he plays and knows where the goals are.
If his attitude is good he would be a worthwhile trade. Compared to JOM and Fyfe, at least we know he is fit to play!
If he came at a reasonable price and we also got Jack Steele it would be a good trade period.

Re: Thoughts on motlop
Think about Brent Guerra who went from a high potential but lazy player with Port, then us to a model of consistency at Hawthorn.
He was 24 when we traded him, Motlop is 25

How can you possibly mention this clown in the same sentence as Fyfe?fugazi wrote:Personally a big wrap on Motlop.Love the way he plays and knows where the goals are.

Re: Thoughts on motlop
No. Haven't seen a lot of him, but he seems to me to be more of an opportunist forward than a mid. Averages around 20 disposals, two tackles, 1.5 goals per game.
Not really what we need. We need quality mids, not more guys who are primarily smaller forwards.

Re: Thoughts on motlop
Not comparing them as players, of course they are in different leagues. I'm saying that JOM and to a lesser extent Fyfe having had serious injuries are unknown quantities as far as their plauying future. At least we know Motlop is fit to play, with no question marks over his physical capacity.whiskers3614 wrote:How can you possibly mention this clown in the same sentence as Fyfe?fugazi wrote:Personally a big wrap on Motlop.Love the way he plays and knows where the goals are.

If he came for next years 2nd rounder, then sure I'd take him. He can play.

Re: Thoughts on motlop
Has flair and skill and can turn a game when switched on but ............ primarily he is a downhill skiier and is far from the most reliable team player
2nd rounder at most
2nd rounder at most

Not many players in the AFL average 20 disposals and 1.5 goals a game.st.byron wrote:No. Haven't seen a lot of him, but he seems to me to be more of an opportunist forward than a mid. Averages around 20 disposals, two tackles, 1.5 goals per game.

Re: Thoughts on motlop
He is actually highly regarded at Geelong and considered a gun. I doubt they'll trade him. The only way would be if they needed to do a deal that addressed their needs, I would suggest the needs would be replacements for Taylor, Lonegan, Enright & Mackie. They need to rebuild a back six.

Brilliant one week, gone missing the next.
Reminds me of our team this year.
So, no! We need consistent, high quality performers to build as we build.
