Sack the Coach (revisited)

Post: # 1715737Post FortiusQuoFidelius »

Three weeks ago I posted here that St Kilda should sack Alan Richardson. Many of you disagreed, some even became abusive at my suggestion. So how many of you still think he's the right man for the job after today's pissweak effort? I stand by my earlier post.... SACK THE COACH!!!!

I agree.

He’s a spud

Players have no heart and coach doesn’t inspire them

If one player has a bad day, that's on the player.
If the whole team has a bad day, it's the coach.

It'd be knee-jerk to discuss this if he wasn't in his fifth season.

But there he is, in season five.

Discuss away. What other candidates are there?

I will concede the Richo is not the man for the job. However, you can’t suck him two rounds into the season

Individually the players are as good as on any other list. Collectively they dont gel as a team.

Coaching is what's not up to it!

I have been a great supporter of Richo, but today's performance made it really tough to stand by him. Scott comprehensively outcoached him with a choking strategy not unlike our approach under Ross Lyon. North crowded us all over the ground and Richo apparently had no answers. He seems to be pretty inflexible in his approach. It's really hard to see things improving much from here, so the club management really does need to have a hard look at him in the next few weeks.

Why on earth did we sign him to a further three years?

I have always supported the coach, but after today I’m not sure I can anymore. We are going backwards fast. Looked a rabble today and the buck has to stop with the coach. It is what it is unfortunately.

Richo - Horrendous B grader.
Finnis - White Bread AFL plant.
Bains - Boys club joke. f***ed us. Will now f*** the Dogs.
McCartin - Country standard player.
Newnes, Stevens etc - bog average.
Elshaugh - suburban standard hack.

The club is a joke.
The Pollyanna brigade on here like Parkey and Tony can f*** right off.
The club has been hiding behind the marketing department spin for years now and the curtain has been been removed to reveal what most of knew to be true.
The whole club is a house of cards built on dog s***.

Anyone saying JLT was meaningless can go and f*** themselves as well.

Yeah/Nah...Not Pleasing!!!

I've given Richardson the benefit of the doubt up to now, despite the insipid losses towards the end of season '17.

Last week was ordinary, but today's effort was despicable.

The team clearly does not want to play for Richo.

Those guys should be inspired by the recent move back to Moorabbin...no excuses about facilities or location now.

Something stinks like hell when they put in such an inept display.

We have all run out of negative descriptors for this one.

Richo must go....now!

And so must the idiot who signed him to 2020.

Send Richo to Sandy so as not to totally waste the money.

Elshaugh must go now... most of his picks are playing like duds, and I don't want him around to f#$k up this season's draft.

The players should donate their 100% match fees to Good Friday.

There must be a monumental clean out of dud players at the end of the year.

The sooner the club bites the bullet with all these duds, dud at all levels, the sooner the Saints will get back...even if it takes 5 more years.

It will take forever, without slashing this giant abcess and draining the pus.

He's under pressure that's for sure.

David Parkin raised an interesting stat after the game. We had 10 players who laid 2 tackles or less and 2 (Membrey & Newnes) who didn't lay one. He said, and its obvious, that's indicative of an attitude issue.

Then it was reported (by Armitage) that post game Richo asked the players how many of them had given 100% during the week in preparation? How dare they think of Finals when they allow themselves to get casual on the training track. Wouldn't have ever happened under Ross Lyon.

The dismal attitude and effort we got from our team today is indicative of one of two things. Either they are way ahead of themselves or the Coach has lost them.

Our leadership on the ground was pathetic, it wasn't great last week until Jack Steven said "enough". Richo must wear the scrutiny he's under now, but I also wonder whether Geary should be the Captain? Whether we should be going forward with players with sub par kicking skills? Namely Geary and Koby Stevens.

Longer is either injured or will never make the grade. If he was injured, then why on earth is he playing when we have 3 other ruckman on our List?

Its about time the cotton wool was removed from McCartin, giving him the rest of the season off last year was utterly pointless and probably destructive to his development. He is devoid of any confidence and on top of that he is playing a role that doesn't suit him or his current level of fitness. If we want to play three big forwards (as do GWS, Sydney and Adelaide), then they need to be more than 20 metres apart and one of them should stay at home.

We were a disgrace today, there is no understating it. Our worst performance as a Club, since the Hawthorn game in 1999. Jake Carlisle is the ONLY one that can hold his head up. Make him the Skipper.

I'm glad we got smashed rather than clawing out a win, because even before we looked like losing it was still utter crap. At least now we have a crisis, a watershed moment. It will either be the making of this team or the end of Richo's tenure. Essendon haven't looked back since Brisbane rolled them last year.

The next three weeks will tell. If this List has any belief or gumption, they'll bounce back and win a couple of them. If the alternative occurs, then its time to re-prioritise, tank and start talking to 'Bomber' Thompson.

It’s not only the coach that should be scrutinised - 50 possession Mitchell would have been handy ... what about our recruiters??

Richo's safe as houses. He somehow got an extension out of a cash strapped team. For better or worse, he's here until at least the end of 2019. Our only real hope is that he somehow figures out that we're doing a lot of things very wrong. More realistically, we're probably looking at an overhaul of assistants and one of those board review things that clubs do when they don't actually want to do anything. I, personally, look forward to a lot of long bombs to one-on-threes over the next few years.

so glad we lost today.
Might make folks realise how bad AR is as a coach.

I reckon the Milky Bar Kid is NOT a good coach, he has no idea
and this is a reality check for all of the club.
I was damn surprised when the club re-signed him.
The wins we got last year against Tigers and Giants were false dawns
and made everyone all fluffy.

Maybe the directors will realise he ain't the man for the job.
