Time to get Gerry Ryan

Post: # 1736880Post seano1 »

It’s time for Gerry Ryan to be president of our great club , he’s a doer with a great business mind who loves his sport and the saints and I feel he’s the one to attract better skilled people to this club from coaches to players. He loves to be a winner and this is what is needed at this club ..this attitude starting at the top and spreading right through to the bottom.

I was on a fundraising group at the Club in the 80s with Gerry he always came across as a doer for the Club and not just full of words. I would love him to run for President.

Gave 100% to his committees and was all about the club and not himself from my dealings with him in the 90s. Would have all of my votes for President.

I have had business dealings with Gerry, the last was in 2017. Gerry is a hard arse and brutal and doesn't suffer fools lightly.

He has a temper and will rip people to pieces verbally. Whilst not one of the top end of towns nice guys, he is a man of action, intelligence, he's reflective and he loves the saints. Moreover he demands professionalism and success.

I asked him in 2016 if he'd go back or take on the presidency and he said no due to commitments. Was still a financial contributor at the that time.

Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

I was at the Qld supporters lunchoen yesterday where our
current president spoke.

Very impressive.

Took and answered a number of hard/difficult questions from disgruntled supporters.

No backward steps.

We dont need a new president at the.moment AFAIC.

I hope he spoke better than he did on SEN the other week, because that was far from impressive.

No he's not. He has been in the past, but now too busy running one of the biggest teams in world cycling, Mitchellton Winery, Jayco and also part owner of Melbourne Storm, not to mention his horse racing empire!

No he was very impressive as I said.

I found him most interesting. Obviously a very smart, and successful, businessman and a quality person.

Surprised me actually after some of the crap on here that I had read about him.

I am sure other people at the luncheon would back me up.

Good to hear. My only qualm is that he seems to be more of a background figure than most of the other presidents. I'd just like to see and hear more from him.

Well, one clown said he had spoken to someone's uncle , brother or maybe sister, who knew a player who had come from another club and who was very critical of the saints' fitness staff and the players level of fitness.

Peter was very polite in his answer and said that whilst he didn't know the context in which the comment had been made, Lethlean had told him that the saints fitness staff were second to none and that the players fitness wasn't an issue . He also mentioned that the saints usually finished off well in the 4th quarter as had been demonstrated on a number of occasions. And that was prior to their effort on Saturday.

Agree I was there too and I walked out of there confident for the future and pumped for the game!

When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss
