Left field Trade Ideas

Post: # 1825321Post SAINT-LEE »

Joe Daniher.

We trade Josh Bruce, pretty likely according to many. Bains is telling Dogs it's done.
We get a mid 2nd draft pick.
Lonie- Bulldogs have enquired alot...draft pick...add Bruce plus Lonie...are 2 players worth pick 13??

We split our 1st round ( with some team....not sure we can as several other teams are trying).

We offer a first late plus Bruce's 2nd ( unless we get 13 ) for Daniher.
We need a 65 goal, best and fairest who is young.
Injured? Yes, but was King who has earned no B&F, no All Australian and kicked ZERO goals.

Joe can also be a 2nd ruck with ROMO!

Sam Frost.

We need a defender, Reiwoldt reckons he is one of the best active defenders...could snag for same as Keathaccording to rumours as Frost wants long term deal!

Acres - Brisbane are desperate for a half back...Can we not spare one of our 741 half backs for a draft pick?

Stuv- he's gone , we DO NOT NEED CONSTABLE. why add a player we already have 3 times over? Get draft picks.

If we can compile picks we could get Hill, Ryder, Jones, Frost and Daniher....imagine that!!!

Anyone else got any out there ideas?

Don't forget any picks we may get for Steven ...?
Daniher would be a massive get
Piss efc fans off no end
It would also mean we field a team of four ex efc players

Not sure the Dogs will give up 13 for that, but lock it in if they will.

I don’t think we are getting much for Steven, personally hoping we can manoeuvre a trade for Constable, but as you say we already have a few like him. Would prefer that to a third round pick though...

Letting Bruce go is insanity at its finest, expecting King to be an immediate replacement is crazy, or is the club now confident Paddy will be good to go. We will need an extra tall forward while King is learning his craft and as we know, tall forwards can take longer to develop and seeing as though King is a beanpole will his body take a while to get AFL ready, presently he looks like a fragile porcelain giraffe.

Rookie selection taken from Essendon's reserves list, I don't think there was much dealing to be done.

Andrew Lovett says hi!

Stephen Milne never played with Essendon, and was never on their list. He was a supplementary reserves player. Paid on a game by game basis. He was drafted to our rookie list, and upgraded at the end of 2001.

Was figuring since we look like losing Steven and Bruce.

Trade 5 for Hill and Pick 26 from Freo.
Trade pick 26 and Steven for Geel's pick 17
Trade Bruce for pick 32,43 trade pick 32 to Sydney to for Jones
Saints Pick 79 for Ryder

Leaves us with pick 17, 43, 56, 73

That is really reasonable thinking & trading ideas.
Reality is a 3rd club is often involved but above makes real sense.

To be honest I'd do these two and keep Bruce and if they are keen on Ryder grab him as well.

This sounds like a terrible idea, its the Carlisle trade all over again. Paying overs on "potential". Lets look at stats

- Will be 26 in 2020
- 2018 - Played 7 games - 8 goals
- 2019 - Played 4 games - 7 goals

Paying for a player on 'potential'. How many times have we gone down that path?
- Carlisle - Poor
- Hanners - Poor
- Freeman - Poor

If he couldn't play through his prime age (24-25), good luck when he gets older.

Jarryd Roughhead as a rookie? Would be a good teach for younger players and could be our 2nd backup ruck man just in case....Not sure of his condition, but looks pretty fit. Could still perform his current role.

Is there any possibility that the Club are prepared to let Bruce go because they're thinking (long term)
Ryder - 1st ruck
Marshall - CHF (relieving ruck) Battle replaces him when he goes into ruck
Winks - FF
Membrey - HFF
B King - FB (replacing Brown)
Carlisle - CHB - Battle eventually take his spot

The only problem with that is that Ryder and long term don't go together. Only really has one or two years in him

Maybe 2 years is all they're looking for from Ryder?
Hopefully he could take the pressure off Marshall for those 2 years and allow him to mature into a Ruck/Forward rather than a forward/ruck?
Let's be realistic. He was originally seen by many as a tall forward who became a ruckman because of circumstances

I'm trying to make sense of why Ryder would agree to come to us if he was just going to be a 'backup' ruckman for 2 years, notwithstanding PA was only offering him a 1 year contract.
