Re: Scott - Give us the Points- AFL to take submissions
[quote="To the top"]1) 4) For what it is worth, St Kilda were at the venue and prepared to play. Essendon were not at the venue and ready to play. Both clubs are Melbourne based clubs therefore with the identical travel obligations (in fact, St Kilda had to travel more distance). Therefore...

Re: a draw = joke
Update: It seems our coach was / is shocked the AFL have declared a draw - he has said "he thought it was a forfeit when your opponents don't turn up to play". Wangaratta organisers are furious - have said that Bombers will lose a lot of supporters over this - their credibility has taken a...

Re: a draw = joke
Fact - Bummers lobbied the AFL to change the rules to allow them to fly up on day of game, ( rules clearly state all teams must fly on day before game ) AFL gave them permission (apparently) and naturally they have stuffed up failing to get to the game. The AFL is considering whether or not Essendon...

Re: Saints to play home game in NZ on ANZAC day
To me, an ANZAC day clash in NZ makes no sense, the match would have no spectacle as there would be about 3 people there. I fully support the idea of playing a game in NZ, and i think it is a fantastic idea, but not on ANZAC day. We learn this is Grade 2. C'mon man. ANZAC = Australia New Zealand Ar...

Son was working for AFL Live - he is a sports broadcaster by trade. He was calling the games with Cam Mooney doing special comments.Dave McNamara wrote:[ Many thanks for that Yipper.
PS: Was your son in the box as a prize-winner guest, or as part of the broadcast team?

Re: Positives from last night..
Game 1 vs Swannies - we won clearances however the big mac struggled in the ruck, Game 2 vs Geelong he did very well and he was able to find Ross a couple of times with some beautiful tapwork. One in particular comes to mind where he used his body to keep his opponent out and tapped with his left ha...

Re: Positives from last night..
For me, I reckon opposition analysts would have been reporting back on our clearance work. We dominated clearances in both games with very impressive performances from young midfielders like Ledger, Ross, Armo ( 2nd game) - some of the ruckwork from McEvoy down to Ross was fantastic. Also a very str...

Re: How much of Melbourne do the Saints cover-
Saints strongholds?? Coming up from Gippsland - we have plenty of support from down that way. There is a really big supporter group based in Lakes Entrance and I had one going strong in Central Gippsland. At our peak we had over 200 members. There are sainters everywhere down in that area - particul...

Re: Im ready for 2012
It is also the state of mind of the playing list - we have injected some very enthusiastic and talented and quick youth into the list. Combined with fringe players being told the slate is clear - and older players being refreshed mentally and physically. We have a fresh and keen coaching team ready ...

Re: Nick Riewoldt will have more help this year
In fairness I think Stanley struggled in the blustery conditions at the intraclub like most of the talls did. He has worked very hard over pre-season, has found a new lease on life, really enthusiastic about his prospects. He is in a good place at the moment. Paul Hudson has spent a lot of time with...

Re: Intra Club Pre-season Match
In my view Tommy Ledger was BOG today - absolute terrier. We have a really exciting midfield developing. Lenny is back, Seb Ross is a younger Lenny - very very good. Joey and Dal were themselves, throw in Stevens and Armo and with Grammy playing thru there a bit also - we look quicker, cleaner and h...

Good memories in this thread. well done guys. My earliest memory of a Saints comeback was in 1974 or 75 out at Waverley against the mighty Richmond team - back to back flags in 73/74 I think?? We were down 9.8 to 1.8 at half time - they were at full strength. We looked shot. Second half we blitzed t...

Recruitment strategy
Recruitment has been for young players - exceptionally quick and highly skilled. Also good kids with strong character. It seems we were seen as slow and workman like rather than a classy team. Exciting forward line players have been recruited. We need to kick goals - it seems we are after blokes who...

Re: another reason lyon shites me
[quote Let it go, man. Everyone with a grudge on RL needs to let it go, IMO. Would you prefer he had of done the right thing by the club and stayed and still be our coach, and suck the life from this club even further? He did the right thing by leaving, the right thing by himself and without doubt t...

Just on Rhys - I saw him 2 weeks ago. He was just running laps all session. Yesterday he was in the full training group and trained hard. At the end of training the squad had to do a very gruelling running session around the outside of the oval. He was in the lead group running at strong pace all th...

Went along for a look this morning. All players were there - except Rooey still in USA on hols. Solid 2.5 hours session - really building the fitness base. Observations: Beau Wilkes is one very big unit - he would actually snap Zac in half if he fell on him. He is also very fit. Could be a good one....

Well I reckon we will do a lot better both on and off field with our current philosophy - the club is feeling good about itself again. When you have blokes picking your club to train with over a collingwood - then you have an environment where people can focus on the right things. It is coming toget...

Funny, the Pies have an exceptional media relationship. Sponsors coming out of their arses and give plenty to their members i.e. they encourage them to join, keep communicating with them, have open training in the middle of Melbourne. All of which we are saying the Saints have started down on that s...

Well from where I am sitting, I see a club that has a spring in it's step again. Netters was right to say that there is a building momentum - because there is. It is the staff, the players and we fans. It is like a the place has shaken off the blues and is now ready to go again. We played like we w...
