Definitely his best game for us, and like the team he has been steadily improving over the last month. Played well against Roos and Blues in defence. Like many here I've never questioned his effort, stamina, etc but always felt teams were happy to let him off the leash because he did so little damag...

Of course CJ's chase down was up there - but I'm with the couple of posters above who nominated Rooey's 2nd goal in the 3rd Q, the snap. Special mention also to Roo's long set shot which I think put us in the lead and Dal's slot from the pocket. Oh and Roo's pack breaking mark in the last. Really to...

Why do i get so worried when he is lining up for goal i don't know. the stats a few weeks ago showed he had the best goals v behinds percentage in the team this season. up around 70 per cent, though it might have dropped a bit with 2.3 at his last outing. I think this is because when he misses he o...

The spoil of Cloke's centering handball in the last quarter was one of the most telling acts in the match for mine. Good effort by Dal all round.

I was born just a few days after the great Robert Harvey. So I'll be Kosi + Bally in late August - though my history as a Sainter is not as long and deep as my contemporaries here. I grew up in Sydney, playing and following rugby league. Manly Sea Eagles were my team. Met a girl from Melbourne in '9...

I'm with the pro-McEvoy's above. We need to develop a good ruckman even if it takes a few years. There will always be a Cyril Rioli (and they are probably becoming more prevalent) and they can slot in pretty quickly (ie, the Daveys, Rioli, Stokes etc.) Sure we could use the likes of Rioli this year,...

Cats were lining up to have a ping from outside 50 in the 3rd. Didn't miss too many either. Not telling anyone anything they don't already know, sure, but jeez they just do it on their ear. Thats confidence for you. At the moment we don't have much and even the Richmonds and Carltons don't fear us.

X had had a brilliant game during Burkey's last game. If I remember rightly it was a heritage round game late 2003. I will never fortget X going for a speccy in the goal square towards the end of the game. He was near horizontal when he got his hands to the ball and about six foot in the air. Just ...

4 Montagna (heaps of 1%ers as well as the usual class)
3 S. Fisher (Mr. Reliable down back (Max unlucky but on the up))
2 Dal Santo (a few crucial touches of brilliance)
1 X. Clarke (courage in the trenches - love this guy)

Heard that too, very interesting call. He said something along the lines of "he's getting some super coaching down there," I guess referring to SOS. He's also tipped Montagna for the brownlow. Another big call but maybe an astute one if Joey has a consistent year, and drills a few more of ...

Re: Our biggest improver this year?

What to know who you guys think will be the biggest improver for the saints this year. I love the way goose plays and think he will come good after a couple of rounds then dominate. What a legend. This was my immediate thought before I read the OP. If Goose can get back to his best (along with Max)...

Help me settle a bet???

I have a mate who is adamant that in '04 after we beat the Cats in the Wizard Cup final we played them the very next week in the round 1 match. I am 99% certain that there was then, as there is now, a week off between pre-season and first round of the real stuff. Can anyone verify this for me - I ha...

Loved it when he slammed Max Rooke. Thought Rooke was pretty lame the way he lashed out at a perfectly good and legal tackle. I guess no premiership playing tough guy likes to be shown up by a young 'un. Must admit I had him slightly behind Eddy last week. But now I reckon he's more than worthy of h...

Eljay has something about him. Although he didn't get much game time, and therefore few disposals, he did a couple of things which made me sit up and think - this kid has a 'cleverness' about him - much like Dal when he first arrived. If Eljay can get to be even 75% of Dal then we have snaffled a r...

IMHO he was sensational. First competitive hit out for the year and he showed that he won't be a one-hit wonder. Some great defensive work in pressure situations and some great run through the middle. Disposal was pretty good too.

I'm not really thinking about tomorrow. Don't really care - all I'm saying is that we were neck and neck with them until last year, when they had everything go right and we were virtually the opposite. They won't have forgotten our ability to challenge them. I'm not trying to make any big statements.
