Re: The Caldwell conundrum

Brian Speaking reckons that Caldwell is going to Essendon but subsequent posts indicate he is sitting on the fence and that Gubby is still trying and doesn't give up easily. We have Bytel who we need to get serious game time into. I think they are similar types too so I am not too fussed about this...

Re: What we need

I agree with what you've written SP but I also believe he has the talent, the size and the skills to move into the midfield. Much like Yeo did after cutting his teeth across the half back line. We are extremely fortunate to have someone like Nick on our list. I’m not sure if Coffield becomes a full...

Re: What players are we likely to get in the trade

We need miss more than anything. Crouch for now and Caldwell for the future would do me.
Our first as a straight swap should be enough for Caldwell. Wouldn't leave much to take to the draft though.

Not just Ratts. We've nailed all of our off field appointments over the last couple of years. Observant upward from here.

They got him for a future second. He hasnt improved that much. Shouldn't require much more than Carlton's second. Maybe a swap of late picks if they are feeling generous.

Re: Dougal Howard

Only played his 50th game this year. He’s a very good player already. Give him another season or two and he’ll be better. Our whole back line is going to be brilliant. Wilkie is AA level already. Killed Riewoldt last night.

Re: Super Proud of Saints in 2020

Yep. Great post. Great effort given all of the obstacles this year, trying to bring new guys into the side and develop young players without a reserves comp. Another pre season into our players and they’ll be ready to go places. Clarke and Coffield should both be AA next year. I wish next season sta...

We’ve already exceeded my expectations for the year by winning a final, so anything else is a bonus. No pressure on us tonight at all.
This season is setting us up to explode next year.

They showed them doing it during one of the games this year. It’s a mindfulness exercise involving focusing on your breathing.

Re: Who are the five players that were forced out by The Fabulous Five?

I would have thought that Max King was the one that forced Bruce out of the team. He may not have been drafted or traded last year, but he acted like a draftee. Coffield and long are keeping Savage and Roberton out. King was probably part of the reason we let Bruce go. We wouldn't be able to fit th...

The trade that got us Hunter must be the greatest trade of all time. To get him and Coff in the same draft is looking better by the day.

Where was his opponent in that play? I'd hate to have to try to keep up with him. Would give Harv's a run for his money.

Saturday showed the value of having two 200cm defenders. Makes it very hard for the opposition to Matt anything that comes in high.

Re: Ben Long One Week

The AFL makes a point to say the jurors don't need to speculate but they must "give consideration" to the possibility of causing serious injury. This is interesting. If I can be a smart rear end, then this could mean the end to ruck contests, tackling, screamers, backing into packs, lacin...

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers

Battle will be a key, any word on what his actual injury is? I heard it mentioned he had a hot spot in his foot. So not a stress fracture but can develop into one. I’m not sure how much benefit a week off will do but fingers crossed. I’m sure a little jab will fix it right up for a few hours! :) I ...

We’re probably lucky that with the shorter quarters Marshall should be able to do 90% of the ruck work. Hopefully Battle is ok and can come in for Ryder. If Carlisle is out as well that will bea stretch.

Re: Fantastic...but...

Coffield had a few fumbles during the game, but 4 or 5 big marks in our D50 in the last quarter were pure gold. Lucky for us, he stood tall in the last. Like a few, he will benefit so much from the experience. I loved that he was still going for the marks in the last quarter and grabbing a few. To ...

Re: Ben Paton run and bounce

Paton will get less hype than a lot of others but he is becoming a very good player. Makes the right decisions, knows when to spoil and when to mark and has the right mix between defence and attack.
We’ve got a defensive unit that could play together for the next 8 years and will only improve.
